  1. Anybody know where I can get one of these locally? I need to rebuild a Monarch RT3 and it requires on proprietary piece of kit http://cdn.sram.com/cdn/farfuture/YNO26nWO69n-J_qs8yX6PtjbHwYyxvBx48lnyt6pihU/mtime:1329774110/sites/default/files/styles/product_small/public/images/products/accessories/rockshox_acc_air_valve_adapter_tool_monarch_lrg.jpg?itok=ujWXimPT
  2. So Sram have updated the codes and beefed them a bit. Check Pink bikes 1st ride with them mounted on a Slash. Personally I've been waiting for these so will be good to know what they are going to go for. https://www.pinkbike.com/news/srams-new-code-brakes-first-ride-2017.html
  3. Bike: Rocky Mountain Element 30MSL (26") Current setup: Old type X9 rear derailleur (no clutch, long cage)Wide range Praxis cassette (11-40T)32T chainringX7 shifterAvid Elixir CR brakes Warning: I'm a novice who has done internet research with very little hands on experience. No need to be gentle, just want to make that clear (if my questions don't do that for themselves...). Question: I need some help choosing a rear derailleur to help eliminate chain slap. The Shimano Zee Shadow + sounds perfect for 1 x 10 but there are mixed results when using it with wide range cassettes. It's such a great option for purpose and price and I'm tempted to try it. But I've spent a lot on my Praxis wide range cassette and love the setup. If I go with anything Shimano I know I'll run into issues with matching clamps for my Avid brakes. But I first just want to see if this RD is a solid choice. I have an SLX shifter I can use to replace the X7. Another option would be to find a medium cage SRAM derailleur with clutch but I'm not sure where to get one and if it will really help sort out the chain slap (in same way that Zee seems to). Are there other options I could consider? Many thanks for any advice.

  5. Super Deluxe allowed us to ditch old design constraints, and simply focus on building the best possible rear shock. And with that old thinking no longer holding us back, we began to wonder why coil-shock performance had to be limited to purely downhill and enduro applications and why there should be any pedaling compromise associated with a coil shock. 6. Hi everyone, I've got Avid Elixir CR brakes that combined with Sram X7 shifters. I've converted to 1 x 10 and want to replace the rear shifter with a Shimano SLX. But there's an issue with not being able to use my existing clamp. Apparently they're not so easy to get hold of either. Does anyone know where I can find one? Thanks Pic just shows current clamp with sram x7 shifter.
  7. SRAM introduced the first ever 12 speed mountain bike groupsets in March with the announcement of their Eagle XX1 and X01 drivetrains. While the Eagle X01 drivetrain is suitable for all riding styles up to and including Enduro racing, the Eagle XX1 is geared towards cross-country with the use of light weight materials. 10. Hi All, Yesterday I got my SRAM goodies bought from CRC. Why am I posting? Well I bought these goodies after CRC stopped listing SRAM products for buyers from SA. So I thought I will tell you how I did it (NOTE: I do not know if they since corrected it) It was purely accidental. I was logged in, but my country and currency settings were UK and GBP. I then added the SRAM goods to a wish list. At this point I did not know that I could not buy these items anymore. After making up my mind, I went back online to buy the items. This time fixing my country to SA, but keeping currency in GBP. Low and behold I could not view the SRAM goods anymore. This is when I read on The Hub of the change. I then went into my wishlist, and saw the items were still listed in there, and I then added it from my wishlist (there is a function to move the items from wishlist to cart). Success, they were added to my cart. Thinking that somewhere in the checkout process this oversight will be picked up, I continued through the checkout process and again, Success. Items were shipped and received. Those interested in the prices (I used vouchers and the ZAR exchange rate reflects the average I bought the vouchers for) GX Shifter GBP23.99 @ 20.10 R482.20 GX Deraill GBP66.29 @ 20.10 R1332.43 XT Casse GBP54.99 @ 20.10 R1105.30 SARS Charge (GBP145.47 * 17.563 (SARS exchange rate) * 1.1 * 14%) = R393.45 (NOTE: No Duties) SAPO clearance Fee R43 Total Rand = R3356.58
  11. The facts and figures behind Mitch Ropelato’s last-minute bid for the King of Crankworx crown are staggering. But beyond the measurement of gate drops and vertical feet of descending, the number of high-fives and blasted berms, or even his Crankworx hair bleaching, you’ve got one solid common denominator—fun on a bicycle. 12. Anyone with advice as to the type of frame and wheels (material/style) which would match a new(ish) SRAM Force 22 groupset? I don't want anything super racy but am having trouble deciding what sits well with the aesthetics. My budget for both frame and wheels is around the 10k mark. Frame size is 54cm. Any help/pointers in the right direction would be appreciated.
  13. SRAM introduced the first ever, purpose built 1x drivetrain, and is the absolute leader in 1x technology and innovation. We have manufactured, tested and ridden hundreds of thousands of SRAM 1x drivetrains, and have capitalized on the lessons learned from our experience to create all new drivetrains with Eagle Technology. Eagle drivetrains provide unparalleled performance, enhanced toughness and durability, and the freedom of a 500 percent gear range. Click here to view the article
  14. At SRAM, we know that if a technological advancement clutters the experience, it shouldn’t be called an advancement at all. Because it’s a bicycle. It’s supposed to be simple. To make something elegant to the point where it removes what’s in the way... that’s advancement. And that is the standard we held ourselves to while developing our first electronic shifting system. It’s called SRAM RED eTap. Click here to view the article

  18. Excuse the topic heading but I need to get some comments (read ideas/advice) from the specialists on why a chain will snap (break). During a MTB race the weekend that include some hard "cranking" the chain suddenly just quit on me during a steep climb while shifting gears to keep cadence steady. The details are as follows: Chain:KMC X10SL Ti-Gold chain (Manu-notes: only 240 grams for a 116 link chain, with hollow pins and dual sided hollow slotted plates,Titanium Nitride coating) Chainwheel: SRAM XO Carbon 39/26 Cassette: SRAM PG1070 - 11-36T Total km wear: less than 200km (bike still brand new) Rider weight approximately 105kg (excluding my "5-day trek" backpack and garage kit). The specific chain pin seperated from the plate and the link looked like a flower blooming in spring time......you have to keep the humour when stuff like this happen while you are seriously fighting lactic acid "double shots" and shortness of breath. It does not help having an impressive chain (with gold bling) on paper, but when the going gets though it decides it has had enough. Is there a rider weight limit on chain also as in the case of rims? Comments and ideas please..........

  20. I have done a search but cant really find what I want to know. Anybody using it that got issues with it and what is it. How much do they cost in SA? Can I use a 12mm thru axle with it. What size casette can I compare it to, i want to replace my 11-36 will it give me the same ratios. How do they compare to the shimano/sram equivalents Mr Bornman I have read some of your comments on the Rohloff hub from 2012 I think, have they improved the design yet? You said in some gears they are not very efficient? Can you explain. And also you said they are heavy, even if you take in consideration that you loose a few components, (got a answer on the rohloff site they say around 220grams heavier, this all depends on what you use currently)
  21. I installed a new SRAM GX 11 speed cassette about a month ago. Since then, I have been having issues with poor shifting. it's basically impossible to tune the shifter in a way that I get good shifts in the first 2 gears (i.e 42 and 36). It will always try and skip / click. I checked out the cassette and hub freebody to see if I could have screwed the cassette on wrong, but nope, everything is perfect, no misaligned threads or anything. One thing that I did notice, however, was that once the cassette is installed and I spin it, there is a noticeable wobble. Nothing is loose, but it kind of looks like the whole cassette dances on the hub. So this got me thinking, could it be that the cone (or whatever the cylinder in the middle of the cassette is called) that engages with the XD freebody is not straight? Anyone else experience something like this, or is this normal?
  22. I want to upgrade from XT M785 brakes to Guide..... Question! What is the major difference between Guide RSC and Ultimate? If I'm correct the Ultimate have carbon levers and calipers? Weight of both and heavier than XT? Advice and feedback will be highly appreciated. Sorry if there are already a topic like this
  23. Hi Hubbers, I have been running my SRAM X0 (2X10) setup in the picture below. I've had a few setbacks and would like to move away from SRAM. Is it possible to retain the cranck in some way or form and purchace a XT1x11 groupset and marry the two without spending to much $? New xt crancks are expensive and there is not much wrong with the crank arms. Can anyone propose a product or two that I can use to retain the crank and run XT?
  24. Hi there everyone! I want to upgrade my current mtb groupset and yes as always weight plays a big role. Currently running Shimano XT 1x11 and Simano XT brakes. Best way to upgrade? *XTR *XO1 *XX1 Please share thoughts and is it worth spending that extra money for better groupset?
  25. In the early days of mountain biking, riders were forced to settle for products that had been designed for use on road bikes. Modifications were made, but the roots of the design were not completely purpose built, not mountain biking specific. Suspension got better and frame design improved. We began to question the conventional wisdom—challenge the old design ideas that limit what can be done to push the sport into the future. SRAM 1x technology was an incredible step forward for the mountain bike drivetrain, and has had a profound effect on not only the way bikes are designed but also the way people ride them.
