  1. Im looking at finding a 2010 demo 8 what would a fair price be for one, thinking 8k, would that be a fair price (completely stock)
  2. At this moment my Hardtail MTB have 550km on the clock and I am currenty riding Schwalbe Racing Ralph 29 x 2.25 evo ( Think it is the cheap one. They are stock on my Giant) and after every ride I've got a flat tire. My rear tire looks like a dog is chewing it and some of nobbys is gone. I am running 40 tar and 60 off road. Is this normal?? This didn't happen on my previous MAXXIS Crossmark/ Larsen TT and Specialized Captain Control. Currently is am hating Schwalbe so much that I just want to rip off the tires!!! Ps I don't have a dog to chew my tires...
  3. Easy out of the pedals, protection, and comfort — the addition of an all mountain/gravity shoe to our line opened our eyes to what riders really wanted. We leveraged that insight to build a new shoe that's focused on the trail rider, specifically in these three areas: Connection, Comfort, & Light Weight. Click here to view the article
  4. The team will all be racing aboard Specialized bikes and select equipment pieces next season. Click here to view the article
  5. This is a precautionary note for owners of 2015 Spez bikes that share the same hubs as the Rumor Comp : A friend just purchased a low milage Spez Rumor advertised on the Hub. The bike is a 2105 model, in excellent condition and low milage as advertised. My friend brought it round to fit some pedals and give it a check. It has a 15mm TA Reba on front and I could not remove the front wheel. Prior attempts by someone else had damaged the cup on the RS Maxle. the Maxle seemed to be seized in the hub or left front fork leg. It would partially unscrew from the right leg but then went tight and would not come out of the left leg.. A firm tap with a soft mallet got it freed up and the cause became clear: The wheel bearings are not stainless steel, there is no axle in this hub as the Maxle does that duty and the wheel bearing inner races had rusted onto the Maxle. There was no grease anywhere to be seen. So I squirted the inside of the hub with grease and liberally greased the Maxle as well. At a later stage when I get a bit more time with the bike I am going to strip those cheap bearings out and put something decent in. Since there was only rust in there and no dirt I'm guessing the water got in when the bike was transported on a carrier in the rain or during washing. If you have one of these bikes be warned. There are no o rings or seals in the hub to prevent water gaining access to the axle so you are advised to use liberal amounts of grease and avoid submerging the axle in water. Also avoid spraying water from a hose when washing it. This is going to need care for the life of the bike/hub.
  6. Capping off what’s been a busy year in the local cycling industry was the launch of the Concept Cyclery Melrose Arch and Bell’s Cycling stores, as Specialized Concept Stores, on the 9th and 11th of December 2015. Both Bell’s Cycling and Concept Cyclery Melrose Arch were well established stores before, and their clients can now look forward to an even better cycling retail and service experience when they next stop by to browse the 2016 Specialized Bicycle models or take their bikes in for a service before heading off on holiday. 11. Life should be this simple. 1.Friday: Walk into Specialized Concept Store (West Rand Cycles) with a Camber carbon frame with a pivot point problem. 2. Shop owner says he has never seen such an issue before, calls Specialised, they confirm that they have never seen or heard of such a problem. No mention of such problem can even be found by trawling the web.... 3. Shop confirms the problem cannot be fixed and the frame front triangle is done for. 4. I fill out warranty form and leave the shop stressed out..... 5. 30 minutes later I get confirmation a warranty frame will be at the shop on Monday and will be shipped the same day. This is not just the front carbon triangle but the entire frame. 6. Monday collect new frame. 7. Tuesday: Ride it like I stole it. Note: You get what you pay for.......
  12. In September Specialized Bicycles Africa welcomed three more stores - Cycletec Adventure Centre (Windhoek), Centurion Cyclery (Centurion) and Tailwind Cycles (Klerksdorp) - to their growing roster of bicycle shops. Each store is independently owned and managed, but benefits from Specialized Bicycles South Africa’s tremendous support for shop fitment and training to ensure that each customer has the best possible experience when visiting a Specialized bicycle shop. 16. Hi guys, So I'm new to this forum and new to Mountain Biking in general. I would really appreciate it if you guys could give me a bit of advice regarding the purchase of my first proper mtb. Quick history: Been to a few cycle shops and was most impressed by Complete Cyclist in Bedfordview- they invited me to the Modderfontein Nature Reserve this morning to try out some bikes (Specialized Epic Comp and Specialized Camber Comp). I rode both bikes and most certainly preferred the Camber Comp. Having said this, I realise that the bike which I rode was not the exact same bike which they've offered me- in fact it had slightly better components (Shimano Gears with Internal Cable Routing) than what they've offered me a deal on which is the Camber FSR Comp 29 - 2015 Model for R29 000. Is this a decent bike to start out with? When I usually make such purchases, I like to get something that's quite decent and something that I won't need to change for the next few years (considering that I'm keen to do casual riding at this stage). I'm also not sure on the price that they've offered me or if I should consider the 2016 model which is going for +- R33 000. Having said this, their service has been excellent and it's the type of store which I'd like to build a relationship with cos I know that they'll take care of me. I would really appreciate your guys input... Thanks, Martin

  18. Hi guys, Looking to upgrade to a Dual Sus bike....please help with some feedback and advise. Decisions between, Specialized Epic Comp Carbon vs Trek Superfly Carbon 9.7 vs Scott Spark 920 Carbon If you have any other biker in mind, please suggest. Thanks
  19. Hi all I'm looking into getting a Stumpjumper FSR Comp aluminum. I rented one from Ride-In on Saturday and I loved every second. The revelation fork feels like a pool noodle but it does what it's suppose to. If someone owns one I would be very interested to hear their opinion on the bike. I'm also in tempted by the Camber but I get the feeling it does not weigh much less than the stumpie? The components are exactly the same.

  23. Hi, I am fairly new to biking, and, after a lot of research, I think I've narrowed my choices to the Giant Anthem Advanced 29er (R41k - 2015 model) or the Spez Camber Comp Carbon 29er (R41k - 2015 model) i.e. both are the same price. I have also been quoted R47k for the Spez Epic Comp Carbon 29er. I'd be interested to hear from the members which bike they feel offers better rideability and value for money. After reading numerous posts, I know that a lot has to do with personal preference so I plan on riding both, if possible, before purchase. Cheerio.
  24. This is a new build I have started. It has overtones of a Tolkien novel - one bike to rule all the disciplines. The plan is to build a Cyclocross bike that i can use on road and on dirt road. Oh and to use Disc brakes. For that i needed fatter tires and some clearance on the frame. Disc Brakes and hydraulic vs mechanical: . I was originally hoping to go Di2 hydraulic but they are just stupid expensive and Di2 is so complex to configure i almost gave up. But i will likely go to Di2 in the future as prices fall. Or SRAM Red 22, but we all know that story. Plus i am a Shimano brake fa, especially the new XT stoppers, which are what the road hydraulics are based on. There are still some issues outstanding like tires and what tires will actually fit in the frame. All of the bits have been purchased and are on their way in or will be bought once the frame gets here. Here is the build list. Frame: Chinese Carbon - Deng Fu FM 059 Cyclocross Disc Frame with Fork and seat post and headset included. About R 9k all in landed here. Naked Carbon. A mate ordered one and it looks substantial. Brakes: Shimano CX 77 mechanical discs with 160 mm Shimano Ice Tech Rotors Shifters: Ultegra 6700 10 Speed - still need to get these Front Derailleur: SHimano CX Specific Cranks: Shimano CX 70 compact Crank 172,5 mm 46/32 Rear Derailleur: Shimano XT Clutch type with long cage, Cluster: Shimano 11-28 for some extra spins to get me up the hill Road Bars - 460mm Specialized Saddle Pedals - likely a set of Crank Brothers as I have some spare. Wheels: Lots of issues and information that is very confusing here, so i opted for a second hand set of Carbon 29er Black Spades that i found on the hub. I will try these first and see what they work like but would ultimately like to get a CX specific set like a set of ZTR Iron cross rims. Tires - based on them fitting in the frame the widest i can go is about 35 mm. I am looking at Schwalbes, but they are all really expensive. I am a big fan of tubeless (not tubbies) I got a lot of good information from the hub from guys who have done similar in the past. Like the CX brake levers that go on the top bar and allows you to brake when not on the hoods. I will post photos when completed. Total budget must be about R 25k overall
  25. Why would you want to buy a Specialized Roubaix in South Africa if we don't have rough road routes like in the Paris Roubaix? Surely this bicycle has other properties besides being made for cobblestones? Has anyone got such a bike? How comfortable is it over long distance? How does it climb?
