  7. Have entered Ironman in April. I am looking for some people (possibly a group of ladies) to do some long training rides on a Sunday with. Am not the strongest cyclist on the world and most groups are either super fast or go out on a Saturday. Most of the cycling clubs don't cycle far enough (am needing about 4hrs) I am based in Westville but don't mind going up to Hillcrest or into Durban

  13. I am unable to ride as often as I used to due to very young family. I go to gym and try do the watt bike as often as possible. Is there any online program where you can: 1- Input your annual goals and races 2- Input time available for watt bike, spinning and on the track etc) 3- It then develops a training program around that which you then update. It could also come with some one on one sessions with a trainer who monitors and assists you. You could meet once a month or even every 6 weeks. Regards
  14. So with the Amashova and 94.7 fast approaching, I need to spend more time riding serious hills. Climbing is my biggest weakness. I can ride flats well, my body is able to handle distances of 80-100km so thats not a major concern now. Now looking at the Amashova profile, and with the first 15km being UP I need to prepare for that. Where in Durban would you train hills that will help make a difference ? Something that I could do on a weekend. I live in Merewent and started riding in Bluff but there isn't any loooong climbs around here. Can 1 ride the Amashova route or part of it while still being safe from traffic ? And I have to add this as I know it will come up... I am working on my weight loss... 10Kg down already since April and pushing hard to get to about 85kg by end September. Currently 95kg. Thanks.

  18. Gooday all I wonder if any one can give me some advice as to correct nutrition and training for some one starting out. Basically what I want to do is increase my endurance on a mountain bike whilst on the trails etc. I want to be able to increase my ability to cover longer distances. On top of that, I know that correct nutrition intake is as good as the training itself. My basic understanding is that you should have your 2L bladder filled with cold water and have a bottle or two on the bike filled with game/powerade. effectively, enough for hydration and enough for electrolytes. Depending on the distance, I am sure throwing in a power bar every now and then is also necessary. Give me some ideas that you use regarding the above or correct me where I am wrong.
