  1. I am not sure if there is already a thread for this event, if so, I apologise. This will be my first Ironman 70.3 as well as my first Triathlon, Training has been going well and feeling ready. I have a few questions re the event and triathlons in general, any help will be greatly appreciated: 1. Are trisuits necessary or is it possible/advised to just run in your cycle shorts and shirt? 2. If Wetsuits, on the day, aren't compulsory, is it still advisable to wear one? will it help with speed or tamper with it? I have now forgotten my other questions! will post later when i remember! Thanks in advance
  2. HI Guys I am extending this cause to the public. It come out of my Athletics and Triathlon club based in Bedford. We are trying to raise enough funds for one of our own to compete in Ironman 2017 PE. If she completes the race, she will be the first South African visually impaired athlete to complete the Ironman. She also happens to be one of the coolest, funniest and smartest people you will ever meet. As a visually impaired athlete she has to compete with a guide in all races. This usually means that she would need to purchase two race entries per event, for her and the guide. The guide usually does not get any reward (seldom gets even an official entry nor race number nor medal) so finding someone to give of themselves selflessly is not easy. Below is the message posted on the crowd funding website. Donations are made in pounds as its a british website. Don't be alarmed it is legit and you can even pay via your pay pal account should you require extra assurance. https://www.justgiving.com/crowdfunding/TeamJEPPEforHelen Would really appreciate any support you guys give. We are hoping to raise at least £1,000 Helen is one of us (a Jeppe Runner) who has albinism and she is visually impaired but this does not stop her from living her dream. Everyday she is faced with difficulties and obstacles caused by her condition and this is not going to stand in the way of her competing in Iron man 2017. We tend to forget just how easy it is for us to complete our daily tasks......imagine going about your normal day with only about 10 percent of your vision. You can read her full story by going to her facebook page "Helen Webb - Visually Impaired Athlete" this is one brave lady. In true JEPPE style we want to help Helen fullfil her dream by assisting her to get to Iron man 2017 and bring home that medal!

  4. I had always dreamed of Kona, and had read so much about the race, the course, the athletes, Huggo’s, the undie run, and so on. What I didn’t envisage was how tough writing about the race would be. Unlike my only attempt at racing on the Big Island, this is my sixth attempt at this race report. Click here to view the article

  12. Hey Hubbers So my issue of the week is my TT set up. My bars are too low which is effecting my lower neck when trying to look forward. My stem is currently at 0 degree and I am reluctant to flip it purely because it wont look great! I have been searching for spacers for these bars and even looking into buying blank carbon bars which come with everything I could possibly need. The problem with importing goods is quality control, wrong sizes and if I need more. I have attached a picture of me on the bike, if anyone is a guru at set ups and can point me in the right direction of a solution that would be great! cheapest is always the best just not flipping the stem! haha Thanks Shane
  13. Hi, anyone know where in/around Cape Town one can by quality men's triathlon suits and full body swimwear? thanks
  14. Hi there, I have a mountain bike that i use for training. However, I have recently entered a triathlon with a 90km cycle so I am looking for a Road/TT bike that I could hire for the event as well as use regularly (once a week) to get used to it? I've seen there are a few places in CT that offer for R300 a day but then I still need to get it to Stellenbosch so by the time I do the Triathlon I might as well have bought myself a new bike (the race is in September). Does anyone know a cheap place in Stellenbosch to rent a road bike, or is anyone themselves willing to lend/rent me their bike for two hours on a weekend to get some time in the saddle? Feel free to comment/PM Thanks! ps. I am quite tall (193cm) so a large or XL bike preferably

  18. Short and long: Will sheer willpower(and legpower) overcome the latest kit? What do you think, will I overtake any of the TT bikes at the CGT Triathlon Championships this upcoming Sunday the 10th in Germiston on my MTB? Some fact to consider: Bicycle: - 2006-ish Merida MTB Frame with Schwinn fork and basic componentry (Gearing 3x9) (Total cost back then came to about R4000) - 26-inch Slicks running at 3.0 Bar pressure - MTB SPD half cleat/ half platform pedals - MTB pedals - Total weight dry:17kg Personal info: 95kg 1.88m 5k run: 22:41 (Ran at Hartenbosh Parkrun Dec 2015) 10k run: 56:10 Castle Walk Fun Run 2015 (Hilly course) Momentum 94.7: 4h10 (Exact same bike setup) Discovery Duathlon 2015 Sprint: 1h46 I'm doing the Olympic Distance Duathlon race, I assume the course is shared as the starting time for the Duathlon and Triathlon are exactly the same. Still getting comfortable in the water so no Tri this time round. So..Place your bets, how many TT bikes will I claim on my MTB plonker....? If any?
  19. Have entered Ironman in April. I am looking for some people (possibly a group of ladies) to do some long training rides on a Sunday with. Am not the strongest cyclist on the world and most groups are either super fast or go out on a Saturday. Most of the cycling clubs don't cycle far enough (am needing about 4hrs) I am based in Westville but don't mind going up to Hillcrest or into Durban

  23. HERO ADVENTURE TAKE OVER KINGS KLOOF VENUE After careful consideration and negotiations with land owners, The Hero Adventure team can officially announce the take-over of the Kings Kloof Trails The opportunity came our way as a result of the great reviews and development of Hero Adventure Park at Heia Safari. The Kings Kloof Trails on the west rand have been a favourite for locals in the area for a number of years but have needed an upgrade recently and unfortunately the trails were closed earlier this year. Our vision of developing safe, quality adventure venues took another step forward with the request to look at taking over this venue. For us this presents another exciting challenge that we are looking forward to. We have had to carefully consider the decision ensuring that we can 1stly handle the challenge without any of our existing projects been affected negatively, but also ensure we can deliver an exciting new product to our customers, something that will take the Hero Brand to the next level. What will Hero Kings Kloof Have? Without giving too much away we will be developing a number of new trails that will include beginner, intermediate and more advanced routes. Downhill trails pump tracks and a host of other exciting developments are on the cards. As with Hero Adventure at Heia Safari, this venue will be a multisport venue catering for MTB, Trail Running, Hiking, Obstacle racing, Adventure Events and others. When will it be open? Redevelopment will take a considerable amount of time but we plan to open the 1st Phase before the end of the year and build from there. Ideas and Suggestions We would like to get feedback from locals and Hero Supporters, so hit us with all your ideas and suggestions on what you would like to see implemented and developed at Hero Kings Kloof Memberships We will be launching our Hero Adventure Membership in the next few weeks , more details will be released shortly but what we can tell you is that memberships will be blanket memberships that will give you access to all the facilities at all the parks for 1 price Once again we would like to that all the people who continue to support Hero, without you this dream would not be, we look forward to many many more exciting times
  24. Hi All, I am asking your oppinions on a pair of Ironman 70.3 Racing wheels. I currently have Zipp 303's that were me old climbing wheels. I am decent on the bike I rode a 2:25 bike time at DURBAN 70.3 this year with shoe problems. I come from a national XC background so I'm quite strong on the bike. I'm looking for the perfect wheelset I am really keen on Disk rear and 808 front but I'm not sure for East Londons course. Any replies will be greatly appreciated. Other options would be 808 front and rear, 1080 rear 808 front? Anything like that. Worst case if the wind is terrible in east London I'll use my 303's anyway. Thanks so much, Matt 0833109074
