  1. Hi folks, is the monitor any good? Replacing my MARVEL (Chris Willemse + Cycle Lab brand) monitor and wanted to know if it's an 'upgrade'? New I can get it for R999
  2. Morning all, Not sure if this topic has come up in the past but I have a Kickr Core which suddenly stopped showing any speed or power measurements. I uninstalled the app numerous times but without success. Next step was to check and make sure there was no interference from other devices but still not working. I then contacted Wahoo SA as well as Wahoo USA for advice and support. The SA guys told me to take a 5 - 10 second video which I did and their diagnosis was that the PCB was damaged and that I could send them the damaged Kickr for a trade-in. Unfortunately the unit is out of warranty and Wahoo SA trade-in price is not feasible. Surely if the PCB is damaged you can replace the part but what really worries me is how a support person can diagnose a Kickr from a 5 - 10 second video without actually seeing the complete unit? I really wanted to know what owners of out of warranty Kickr's are doing with their units?
  3. Hi 😊 Has anyone else had the misfortune of breaking the mount on their Wahoo device? (Elemnt Roam) I cracked the mount on the unit itself, not the mount on the bike. Has anyone had any luck replacing theirs? I found a replacement on line (see pics), 3d printed, but it will cost around R500+ to get to SA. Something local would be preferred! Please let me know if you have had any luck with replacing/fixing yours 🤩

  13. Hi Hubbers - Not sure if there is a thread like this so sorry if there is already one. I'm in the market for a decent cycling / gps computer.......navigation is not necessary but will be a added bonus. Main features to track your ride; display HR / Cadence / Power ect. I would really like to have a device where I can import a previous race and then compete against that time.....I assume this will be like virtual pacer? So if my previous CTCT time was 4hrs, I want to know how far I'm off in reaching the goal. Any advice or device you can recommend? Garmin / Wahoo / Bryton ......... ?????

  16. I am in the market for a bike computer, I have been deliberating between the Garmin Edge 530 and the Wahoo Elemnt Roam for quite some time now. This is more of a question on Wahoo South Africa's pricing than opinions between which is better (I am however still open to suggestions!) In South Africa, the Edge 530 (*listed at R6000) is nearly R2000 cheaper than the Element Roam (listed at R7999), fine. When observing UK prices. the Garmin Edge comes in at R5499 (at a R21.15 - GBP exchange rate), making it an 8% price increase in SA to UK. The Element Roam is listed at R6345 in the UK (again, at a R21.15 - GBP exchange rate), making it a 21% more expensive on the SA shelves. The Bolt, listed at R5499 here in SA, is priced at R3912 in the UK (difference of 29%). Long story short, why does Wahoo have higher markup prices when comparing SA to UK than Garmin? Would it be because Garmin has a greater presence in the country and therefore able to turn more stock over? Just found it interesting more than a complaint. *Just wanted to note that prices were taken from official website listings - the Garmin unit however is listed at R6949 on their official website - but have only seen it listed at R6000 on most of the popular sites.
  17. Hi All, I am looking at purchasing a Wahoo Tickr x to track my heart rate during workouts as my Samsung Gear fit 2 pro watch I find does not track accurately during sessions and often cannot pickup my heart rate. My thoughts are to use a Wahoo tickr x as it will be more accurate and a lot cheaper than purchasing an expensive watch since the chest strap will be linked to my phone and my phone is on my person during cycles. So my question is the following - Is it possible to use a Wahoo Tickr x heart rate monitor to collect exercise information, sync it to a relevant app and then upload it to discovery vitality to receive points and validated workouts? Any assistance with this will be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance! Craig
  18. Hi Guys, Has anyone else encountered rusting on the Tickr belt clips? I took mine off yesterday, and noticed that one of the 'button clips' have rusted and broken completely off. The strap is just shy of a year old now, so i expect normal wear and tear, but a complete failure seems odd?
  19. Up until now I've been using a bike with a quick release on my Wahoo Kickr. When I changed out the end caps to fit a bike with a thru axle, I get this horrible sounding grinding noise when I pedal. Took the bike off the trainer, checked that everything was fitted correctly and put it back on and that grinding noise was still there. Checked bike alignment, tried various combinations of gears etc. I reckon it's the cap that goes over on the drive side that's rotating over the cassette's retention nut. Should I grease it or is there more to it than just changing out the end caps?
  20. Hi all, So I've had my Kickr 3 for the past few months and it's been great - I only use it with Zwift at the moment. I've also set the trainer difficulty to max as suggested by someone else here, as this apparently allows the trainer to react quicker to changes in gradients. I did a firmware update on it on Sunday via the Wahoo App and then tried to do a spindown with the app but for some reason this didn't finish so I left it and went for a ride on Zwift and all worked like normal. Last night, I did a spindown within Zwift and this ran successfully. The problem came in during the ride. There was a noticeable increase in the resistance, regardless of the gradient. As an example, when the gradient hit 6-8%, the resistance felt as if the gradient was more like 10-14% and I could hardly turn the pedals over. I can usually remain seated between 6 - 7% but this was impossible. Has anyone else experienced this or have any suggestions?
  21. Hi World of cycling, I am desperate.. no beyond desperate.. at the point of hauling my heavy kickr out the window. No more patience. I need help... please. The issues: - my training program is on training peaks (TP) - i use wahoo kickr for indoor training - my heart rate monitor is garmin - cadence is wahoo cadence monitor Issue: How do I get all of these things to work TOGETHER? After many hours I have managed to sync TP to Rouvy Mobile App which also now has picked up my cadence but cant seem to pick up my HR? and somehow the training session is displayed in %FTP and not watts? How do I change this? Is this a TP issue rather than Rouvy setting? All I want it is my TP session, on my kickr, reading watts (not %FTP), with my HR and cadence reading. Why does this seem to be such a challenge?? SECOND ISSUE something is veeeeeery wrong with the kickr. My program has me at a warmup of 100 -120 watts (this is being read from the TP scheduled workout so I am not on erg mode, I am using rouvy) but i am struggling to ride. i reckon the watts are probably around 180. is this a calibration issue. Any guidance would be highly appeciated, otherwise going to trade this kickr for a watt bike, Thanks
  22. Hey guys, In December 2017 I purchased a Wahoo HR monitor from Take-Alot and its been my go to device every time I go out on the roads as I received a Garmin HR monitor with my 520 edge. The last three rides I have noticed it sort of loses connection, after the ride I check my HR analysis and it shows flat lines here and there. My last ride I stopped and purchased a battery and continued on my ride with no apparent issues at all (Must of been a battery issue) however this past Saturday i was prepping the bike for Sundays ride and the HR monitor just stopped working, the lights come on and it connects to the Garmin but it refuses to read my heart beat and then the Garmin loses the connection. I then used the Wahoo app on my ios and the same thing, it connects immediately however it does not read my heart beat and then drops the connection. I tried more than 8 new batteries. Some help would be great. Thanks guys, danny

  24. As bike (and accessory) owners we are all probably guilty of jumping on the back of our LBS or the distributor if things break and we aren't serviced immediately (or its our fault or the thing is out of warranty). Over the last week to 10 days, I stripped an internal bearing on my Kickr 3 (a first apparently) and wasn't looking forward to the 7-10 day working process of having the device swopped out and/or repaired, given the opinions of some folk on the Hub, resulting from their dealings with the guys at Wahoo ZA (BuyCycle/Ikhambi). I have to say though, I had nothing but fantastic service from Sean and all the folk at Wahoo ZA, from my first interaction on the phone yesterday, with Sean calmly talking (a bloody irritated) me through the process, to his efforts at their offices to troubleshoot the problem and then sending me on my way with a new unit within an hour of getting there. We've all spent a lot of money on our toys but we should also remember that these guys have a business to run and as much as they are cyclists themselves and want to keep everyone happy, that the reality of business does get in the way - we should cut them as much slack as they give us a great product (and remember that we bought in the first place). Happy trails folks S.
  25. I had a problem with my wahoo elemnt .called the customer Centre they exchanged the unit ..great service and best device ... kudos to them ????????????
