I know chances are small but maybe someone found the lost key in that area. Please pm me if you know anything that may help to recover this. Thanks in advance.
  7. Hi Hubland. I had the misfortune of losing my Garmin 310XT (grey & orange, see pic attached) this morning just after 11am somehwere between Cork Trail and Kirstenbosch top gate when I noticed it was gone. It was handlebar mounted with the standard Garmin mount. Please PM if you happen to have found it. Much appreciated.

  10. Hi We would like to do a multi-day mountain bike ride in the Western Cape, but non-circular. So start point A and end up point B. Had a look at the capecycleroutes.co.za but does not really look like proper mountain bike riding (ideally would like some single track, jeep track, technical downhills etc). Any recommendations would be really appreciated? Thanks Jaco
  11. Found, what I assume to be the lever of a Maxel, in Deer Park tonight. I’m sure whomever lost it realized quickly and is hopefully not in hospital now. Taking a chance, if it’s yours let me know and will hopefully save you abit of cash.
  12. HI Hubbers, As some of you might've noticed I put out a Wanted ad for a specific indoor trainer. I was contacted by a person who calls themselves Hans Hatting via SMS telling me he has one for sale. Long story short, I made use of a very kind Hubber to check out the goods for me but we were stood up. What made this very peculiar is that he didn't demand money up front like your typical scammer, he just kept quiet and I haven't heard from him since.
  13. Was wondering what the actual state of road cycling was in the Western Cape, compared to the past. There has been many a topic around it on the hub in the past but no actual data, so this weekend did some data mining and found some pretty interesting stuff. http://puresavage.co.za/2017/10/road-cycling-in-the-western-cape.html/ Long and short, road riding getting old, fast. Let us know what you think can be done and if there are any other issues we missed?
  14. Hi guys.. So we're 30 - only got into riding 18 months ago.. My wife is off contraception and we'd like to get pregnant in the next few months.. (Sshhh....) I'd REALLY like to do one or two easy stage races or multi-day events with her before we have kids.. Any ideas? She's really fit - QOM on many segments on Strava and a very competitive spirit. I built her a carbon hardtail 29er (11kg) as opposed to her 13.5kg trail bike and she's really doing well.. So I'd love for her to be part of a couple of MTB races where she could maybe finish well.. On the other hand I only ever cycle uphill if there's exciting singletrack ahead.. So we need events not longer than 3 days in the Western Cape before August.. Any ideas? The aim is for her to REALLY enjoy these events before children.. We're doing the 99er, CTCT and possibly Houwhoek tour, any other ideas not too far away?
  15. Always been keen on this and the guys up North are seriously organised http://www.orienteering.co.za/event-calendar/mountain-bike-orienteering/ Cape town has active walking running orienteering clubs but as far as i can locate,no mtnbike orienteering clubs If i'm not mistaken there was only one event in the western cape in 2015 and I was busy that weekend. Anybody Starting a club or keen to start something hosting a few more events throughout the year.
  16. Looking to ride with some other ladies. Safety in numbers! I'm not the fittest or fastest but I enjoy Rhodes memorial to block house and taking a trip to the Northern suburbs for some good trails. I usually ride with my husband but he is a lot fitter than I am, more interested in downhill and it might be more fun to ride with some ladies to cheer each other on Anyone interested in joining please comment! Any husbands looking to go downhill and needing a wife babysitter, this is the perfect opportunity
  17. I dare say this topic could have been covered before, but due to the tag, it makes searching for the topic a little difficult. I am selling my bike and I am curious to know what the normal expectations are around shipping, if required. How does a bike get shipped, insurance expectations, packaging, cost etc. Any advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks Simon
  18. Hi Guys With all the fires raging through our beloved Western Cape in the last month we have lost a number of our favourite trails. This is nothing compared to the loss that others have suffered in the form of houses burnt down, infrastructure damage, lost plantations, lives lost and possible permanent damage to indigenous fauna and flora. The trails are however (especially in this forum) something close to our hearts and we will miss them. There is still a wealth of other trails in various networks around the Western Cape that we can still enjoy, and I am sure many of these trails will see a lot more use in the near future. With this increased use some trails will quickly start to take a beating and need more frequent repairs/maintenance. Perhaps it was the thinner air I was inhaling in Stellenbosch over the past few days, or maybe I have just been overly nostalgic with the loss of Fire Hut and Canary, but I have decided that it is time to lend a hand to the trail builders. I am certainly not educated in the art of building and maintaining trails, nor do I possess the vision required to sculpt a flowing path down a mountainside, but I can certainly pick up a shovel and throw some dirt around. I just need someone to tell me where and how. So, trail builders, please add me to your mailing list, WhatsApp, or whatever form of communication you use to organise build days (PM me, I’ll send you my details). I am sure there are other Hubbers out there that would love to help out as well. Come on guys, stop lifting weights in the gym and high-fiving your Crossfit buddies, let’s get some blisters on our hands (chicks dig it) and build jumps and berms.
  19. Hi all, I'm doing some work with Isuzu over the next two months, part of which is creating hyperlapse videos and reviews of MTB routes so that you can check out the route online before making a mission. Here are the routes we've covered before so that you can get an idea of what I'm talking about: http://www.isuzu.co.za/experience-mountain-bike-trails Because I have limited time I need to be picky about the routes we choose to do so I'm asking all you to help me out. What are the best routes/trails in the Western Cape (we're currently geographically limited)? What routes would you most like to see a video of? Any ideas/suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thank you in advance, Albert
  20. Starting a forum for people to find out about where to go for a weekend road cycling getaway in the Western Cape. Any recommendations?
  21. Don't message me - I'm just re-posting a Gumtree ad I saw There's an ad on Gumtree - looking for owner of a bike. Suspected stolen - guy asking whose it is bike it is. (don't go nail the guy - he's looking for the owner) If you know the owner, send him the link. http://www.gumtree.co.za/a-sports-bicycles-fitness/tableview/notice-do-you-know-of-anyone-that-has-had-a-scott-spark-elite-recently-stolen-from-them/1001148761730910017407209 The ad reads as follows: On Friday I bought a bicycle for my son from a guy near the Seven Eleven, Sandown Rd, he approached me asking if I am Interested. It turns out that I am looking for a Bike for my son to commute to school with. After a very sad story of his father passing away last week and him and his mother needing cash, I told him my budget was lower for my son bike. After I did my shopping he approached me again on my way home accepting my offer. When I showed my son the bike he almost fell off his chair. We did some internet research to find the bike value to be much higher raising my suspicion. I took down details from the guy but it seems dodgy, the phone number is message mode, and the address I will try again.
  22. http://bicyclegear.co.za/wp-content/uploads/2014/05/Neverland.jpg This is an amazing trail in Hout Bay. This is just another piece of the puzzle that could get a mountain bike trail built all the way round Table Mountain.
  23. The Western Cape will play host to the 2014 African Continental Mountain Bike Championships, which will kick off the 2014 mountain biking season in South Africa, from 25-26 January. Click here to view the article
  24. With R150 000 in prizes up for grabs, there are a few good reasons for mountain bikers to come out of hibernation and spring into action at the Rudy Project Val de Vie MTB Challenge on September 15. Click here to view the article
