  3. Robyn de Groot is a multiple South African marathon champion, with an impressive array of titles under her belt. 2016 was a mixed year for her: a shoulder injury kept her off the bike and forced her to miss Marathon World Champs, where she had been selected to represent South Africa. She was also knocked out of contention for the women’s overall jersey at the 2016 Absa Cape Epic, after her partner Jennie Stenerhag was forced to withdraw due to illness. This year she will be racing the 2017 Absa Cape Epic with German veteran Sabine Spitz, who finished second at last year’s Cape Epic, alongside teammate Yana Belamoina. The two will be riding as Team Ascendis Health, and look set to be strong contenders in the battle for the women’s podium. We asked Robyn some questions about her plans for 2017, hopes for the Absa Cape Epic, her new bike, and the obstacles she faced last year. Click here to view the article

  6. hi me and partner have been training on a program last 3 of months, averaging around 11hours a week. lots of zone 2 riding and the odd intervals and races like w2w, trailseeker and DC. I expected our december program to be more hectic(want it to be) but we have been given 13,11,8,12 hour weeks for the month. No load weeks. Intervals during the week and longer zone 2 and 3 rides on weekends. how does your programs look for the month? Should we not have a 20hour + load week somewhere? anyone on daisyway or another program that can share there hours(dont have to share the detail)? thanks

  10. There is a bit of confusion about the rider bags for 2017. On the website it states: Riders will receive their race packs containing all items required for the race. They will also collect their rider bags, participation shirts and have the opportunity to interact with various sponsors and suppliers prior to the race. But on their Facebook page it says that you have to buy this (small) bag: https://za.sciconbags.com/catalog/product/view/id/457/s/scicon-race-bag-cape-epic-edition/ Does anyone know if you get a rider bag for free of if you have to buy one?
  11. Hello, How do most people get to the prologue? The accommodation packages include both transportation to the Prologue and then transportation to stage 1. However, it looks like the “transportation package” only includes transfer from prologue to stage 1. If my teammate and I decide not to stay in the race hotel, are there other shuttle options to get to the prologue? Thank you!

  17. Has nobody noticed the hypocrisy of the Cape Epic's doping stance. Any known dopers have a lifetime ban from riding the Cape a Epic. Yet, huge marketing mileage is being garnered about George Hincapie riding next year's Cape Epic. A known doper, and self-confessed doper. So,why the double standards ? Are local dopers banned, but international dopers are ok because of the marketing mileage and "prestige" they bring with them ??!
