  1. Hi, I wonder if someone could help me understand the difference between the year model specs of the Specialized Epic Expert 2015 vs the 2016 model. Thanks
  2. Howdy Hubbers, I need to find out a bit regarding the Absa Cape Epic. I'm doing my first Absa Cape epic but wondering if my Bike ratios will be ok. I'm riding a 1 x 10, with a 32 Oval in Front and 11-40 at back? I've done the Transcape with it, with no issues, Did the 1 x 10, 11-36 last year on the did Pioneer and J2C Will it be ok?

  6. So I've been struggling for a while to get my crank loose as the self extracting bolt was extremely tight. I eventually got it loose today after getting some more leverage using a seatpost. Now I have come accross a new problem. On the Specialized you loosen the bolt on the drive side and it comes off easily(once you get the bolt to turn). What you are left with then is the non drive side and spindle going through the BB. For the life of me I cannot get it to budge. I've banged it with a rubber mallet from a few angles but it is not moving a single millimeter. Am I missing a trick here or has the grease dried up or turned into a paste effectively glueing the crank to the BB? The BB was replaced a week before Joberg2C so it is just over a month old. Does anyone have some tips or tricks I can try to get the crank out?
  7. A very dear and close friend ( he's like a little brother to me) of mine will be crossing the finish line tomorrow in his first Epic. We've messaged daily and he's "coped ok". Coming by 1-2 hours before (normal) cut off every day, except for nursing a sore knee and VERY tender bum, he's ok ( he's also very mentally strong , so not sure when he's lying ) I'd like to get him a little well done/congratulatory gift.... Any suggestions? ... Besides a new bum☺️
  8. On Sunday morning, against the slopes of Table Mountain in Cape Town South Africa, Christoph Sauser and Jaroslav Kulhavy start a prologue at 12:06 local time. They are racing against the clock onboard two custom painted S-Works Epic’s at the start of the Absa Cape Epic, an 8-day test of body, mind and equipment. Click here to view the article

  10. So.... I’m sure this isn't the first time this has come up But I've reached a point of desperation here... I simply cannot decide. I need feedback on long(er) term experience. I’ve decided to get myself a 29'er after a couple years on my awesome Trek EX9. I'm going the Spez route, it’s just a matter of either Camber or Epic Comp Carbon. Both bikes get rave reviews, besides one or two minor things, eg:- brakes on the Camber. First time I rode an Epic ( Expert) was at the lower part of the DaggaPad route at Van Gaalens, out on a out test ride with my mate(Shaun). He had the bike most of the 25km route we rode, I was only on it for about 3km, but didn’t like it one bit. I was on my EX9 and couldn’t wait to get back on it and off the Epic. He, however loved it. A week later he bought an Epic Elite, same bike just not carbon rims. I Took a Camber out a week later and really, really enjoyed it. I rode the concrete road, DaggaPad etc at Van Gaalens and rode the route much better than I did on my EX9 the week before. My mind was pretty much made till Shaun convinced to at least try the Epic once more again… I did… and ARGH…. Really liked it too! Did the River and Greek Church at Van Gaalens, felt one with the bike as I did the the Camber, 2 weeks prior. As the line in the verse from Live’s Lightening Crashes goes….. “The confusion set in…….” WT ef Now?? I took the Camber out again today.. once again , amazing…. granted no Brain (which by the way is just mind blowingly good) like the Epic. So what do I do? Which do I decide on? which should come first? Chicken or Egg?
  11. Hi guys, please keep your eyes open for my Sarto... I rode the Vineyard Race at Lourensford this morning, afterwards racked and strapped it up and went to watch the Epic finishers come in for about an hour or two. When I came back, my bike was gone, luckily we put the other one in the back. This Sarto was custom built for me, very large frame, so not much use to most people. And I need it for the Sani! Black naked carbon frame, white decals Fox shock DTswiss 1800 wheels with Continentals, X-King/Race-King XT groupset Formula brakes My 2013 Epic sticker was still on the top of the frame: 614-1 Frame number under BB: 56CFX63 Please phone me with any news please! 082 563 0917 Much appreciated!
  12. I participated at in the vineyard races this weekend at Lourensford. I did see some spectacular crashes.(even crashed myself). However not all of this was the riders fault but alot due to overcrowding in the singletracks, and then the worse - ignorant, selfish riders that dont care to look whats going on around them. Pulling in in front of faster riders,Braking dead on going downhill, walking dead in the middle in the singletrack around blind corners etc. Let me know what you saw,or even better did u get some footage - share your link please.
  13. So, who's your money on for Local team/Professional. Might not be who you think will win, but want to win. Men? Me going with Evan's/Knox Woman? Stander/Kleynhanns Mix? ? G
