  1. In the past 7 years that I have been cycling there has been a few events that have come and gone. Some of the ones that have gone and are no more I seem to forget about, whereas others I think back with fond memories and miss them. So I thought I'd start a thread where we can all bemoan the passing of some of our favorite events. For me the one I miss most is Trans Karoo.
  2. Hellooo! Anyone from the Helderberg area doing Tour de PPA registration on Thursday or Friday who wouldn't mind picking up the race packs for my development riders please? I can send their details and collect everything from you on Saturday
  3. Any idea if the roads are ready or being worked on? Drove some of the route about a month ago and it was pothole galore. If I remember correctly there was a nasty section by Inchanga that had potholes at the bottom of a descent.
  4. The Klein Karoo at it’s best, vast expanses, clean air, the sound and smells of the veld, skies so clear you can almost touch the stars! This event is a family friendly event and the venue lends itself towards it. The campsites are under trees on grass with swimming pools and play area for kids. Leeuwenboschfontein has so much to offer from hiking trails to a 4×4 route. Over the last 20 years this area has gone from sheep farming to guest farms and the game has moved into our area by themselves: gemsbuck, eland, kudu, wildebeest etc and loads of smaller game as well. This event is aimed at getting out of the rat race, away from phones and pressure and therefore this event isn’t timed. You have a choice which distance you would like to do every day. It is about getting out into the veld, stop and breathe….just relax and enjoy the trails and the scenery. No Pressure! The shorter stages are suited for riders that does not enjoy technical terrain and the longer stages you will find more technical sections. E Bikes are welcome Stage 1: 78km with 1047m ascent 50km with 492m ascent Stage 2: 75km with 1040m ascent 48km with 600m ascent Entries open 10 January 2022 https://makadasadventures.co.za/leeuwenbosch/
  5. I apologise in advance if this topic already exists somewhere, I did search. Has anyone signed up for the Val de Vie MTB Expedition? It's happening on the 14th to 16th of May (inclusive)? Entries close on the 10th of May. It was originally a team event but now they also accept single riders. My friend signed me up for it It is 127km of riding around Paarl over 3 days. It consists of: A time trial (in their emails they keep calling it a Time TRAIL, aaaargh): 20km on the 14th Stage 2: 75km on the 15th 1650m ascent Val de Vie Estate| Hawequa Forest | Wild Hog Welvanpas | Drakenstein Mountains Stage 3 – 77km 1800m ascent Val de Vie Estate| Banhoek | Helshoogte | Boschendal | Plasir de Merle Idas Valley Dam Skyfall | Camissa | Klipwerf | Afterburner | Inferno | Sugarbowl

  11. Hi All, Selling my team Sani2c tickets - please contact me if you are interested? Ryan
  12. At the start line of Emperors the MC mentioned that the Tshwane Classic would be taking place on the weekend of 4/5 November this year. Unconfirmed at this stage I guess because I can't find a single mention of it anywhere on the interwebs... I am really hoping for a big event being hosted in my "dorp", feels like all the cycling events are always a bit of a drive to get to.
  13. I remain surprised at the low frequency of events listed on Bikehub and believe more shouldbe done to attract event organizers to get involved. Looking at some other event pages the listings here seems too low. For such a popular website amongst us bikers this surely should receive more focus?
  14. Does anyone know of any gravel events/races? Can't find any!
  15. Hi all! I have an entry for the Argus available for substitution. Unfortunately I just moved to old Pretoors for work and won't be able to attend the event. I'd be glad to sell my entry for the price I paid for it - R510. 0797211002 Keep going \o.o/
  16. I am not sure if there is already a thread for this event, if so, I apologise. This will be my first Ironman 70.3 as well as my first Triathlon, Training has been going well and feeling ready. I have a few questions re the event and triathlons in general, any help will be greatly appreciated: 1. Are trisuits necessary or is it possible/advised to just run in your cycle shorts and shirt? 2. If Wetsuits, on the day, aren't compulsory, is it still advisable to wear one? will it help with speed or tamper with it? I have now forgotten my other questions! will post later when i remember! Thanks in advance

Willing to give it to someone who will enjoy the event at half the normal entry price (ie R160) + R50 Substitution Fees = R210. I also have a spot booked on the shuttle. Not sure if that can be substituted as well, but can try to find out if you need it. Cost thereof is an additional R80. Thanks

    Babbas Races

Hi, To anyone that have done the Babbas races before, can you pleas provide some info on how you found it. Maybe a rating out of 10 would help. I normally do the USN and Nissan races. Also on the 70km distance, how would you rate it against lets say a 70km Nissan race? +- how many people enter these races? Any constructive info will be appreciated. Thanks in advance.
  25. Morning all, Will anyone be going down to Sabie this weekend for the annual "Tube Race" hosted by the Round Table? Kev
