Heard about the Wannabees club but it seemed to be focusing on MTB rides and I am a road cyclist. Looking for average speeds of +30 km/h as I am planning on a sub 3 in the Argus. Thanks in advance.

  4. Hi my name is Rob. I am a cyclist based in Fish Hoek, Cape Town. I am looking for riding/training partners for either road or mountain or both in and around the Southern peninsula/Southern suburbs. The only catch is due to a busy workday I ride early mornings leaving 5 back by 7 or so. I am more than happy to leave earlier if need be and meet up with you somewhere more convenient. I guess I average about 25-26km/h on road bike with climbs included. Can easily handle a bit more and am super relaxed about riding with slower people but faster or equal is ideal. Weekends we can ride at a more sensible hour! I enjoy riding road, love riding mountain, climbing is awesome, I am a bit slow on single track as I am rather new to the sport. Hoping to do rides of about 50-60km during week or hill sprints and repeats. Weekend longer rides are awesome! If anyone knows of groups or people who ride those kinds of times I would love to hear of them. Thanks for taking the time to read my post! Cheers Rob
  5. I’ll be in Kenton-on-sea / Boesmansrivier over December and Jan 2017 and would like to meet other mountain bikers who would like to explore the area.

  7. Hi, I'm looking to join a group that does longer rides on the weekends.I started riding in December 2016 so reckon im average fitness level I think. I Did my first 100km a week ago felt pretty good. I've been doing 50-65km rides since then on my own, so wondering if there are any like minded peeps wanting to join. I don't ride to race or for the fastest strava time so, if you're on the juice rather don't join. Thanks
  8. I'm looking for a group of road or mountain bike riders to join up with after work on weekday evenings around Westlake/Tokai/Muizenberg area. 5:30pm onwards, beers to follow...? 19. Hey everyone Is anyone going to be in or around the Plett/Knysna area over Easter? I would love to join a riding bunch and explore some of the trails around the area. Please let me know. Happy Friday!
  20. I bought a mountain bike roughly 2 years ago, and don't think I've done more than 20kms on it since. I was convinced (much to my objection), to go straight into cleats without really learning to ride the thing first. To say I fell a lot is an understatement. I was constantly on the floor, stuck under the bike. This was a huge put-off as a beginner, and I slowly lost interest and became more and more terrified of getting on the bike. I recently decided to sell my bike, but have now decided to give it one more go before I get rid of the thing. Where do I begin?????!!!!! I can't go out onto the road as I'm absolutely terrified I'd just ride into a car or fall under one! (I'm really that bad!) I'm like an awkward toddler learning to ride a bike for the first time, except I'm stuck to the thing! And I don't know anyone else who rides, let alone as complete a beginner as I am! Are there any BeginnerBeginnerLikeReallyBeginner groups that meet anywhere? Or anywhere I can go to just try to learn to stay on the bike? :-D I'm in Northcliff by the way.

  22. Good day cyclists! We here at Saintsburg would like to invite you all to come and enjoy the upcoming Sunday (13th of September) cycling with us. We have just finished building a small track for your kids, with proper berms and small technical sections to prepare them for the big ones! We are also hosting a fun ride for everyone interested to come and enjoy a challenging but not technical 35km ride around Garsfontein and Lynnwood. It has relatively steep climbs and includes mostly offroad paths. The leading vehicle will depart at 8h30am and we will assume that the ride will take between 2h30 and 2h45 to complete. The family members that aren't participating in the rides are welcome to enjoy the views and cake assortments available at our cafe'. This is the route we are going to follow. https://www.strava.com/routes/3258295 After the ride, Saintsburg will have assorted menu's available. Plot 105, Achilles Avenue, Zwavelpoort.
