  1. Hi Guys/Ladies I was wondering about an idea for a Pretoria club ride on weekends for road cyclists? I noticed at the club I used to ride for that there would be 100+ cyclists, however 5 would be there for the road group. I am sure this is the case for most/all the clubs in Pretoria? (Especially winter months) As we all know this is getting increasingly dangerous as individuals/small groups get targeted by thieves. Perhaps each club can take a turn to host all the roadies for the weekend or have designated starting points on weekends? This would ensure there are enough road cyclists in a group to hopefully deter attacks. Food for thought. Safe riding.
  2. Hi Guys! I entered the 5150 NMB triathlon and recently bought a road bike. I want to ride on weekends (I live in PE but work in Uitenhage so training in the morning is a bit tough). Any beginners/average fitness cyclists out there wanting to join me? I'll probably park at Grass Roof and go from there. I am 23 and a female. Rouxle
  3. Hi All, I am looking for a cycle buddy to cycle with me from Greenpoint to Montague Garden or in the Afternoons (3pm) cycle back from Montague Gardens to Greenpoint. Let me know!
  4. I have been riding 1x10 on my MTB for a year now and it is working out great for me. I have a 11-36t at the back and a 32t NW on the standard Acera crank that came with the bike. So far it has seend 6000+ km of bliss This weekend I did a ride on my road bike and was wondering if I can make it a 1x setup like on my MTB? My roadie has a 12-23t at the back and 30/42/52 FSA triple at the front. After some messing around in Excel I found my current 3x8 setup covers ratios from 1.3 (23t/30t) to 4.3 (12t/52t). If I put a 10 speed 11-36t MTB cassette at the back and a 48t NW at the front I cover that perfectly however that would mean new chain, derailleur and shifter. Sticking with 8 speed and opting for HG41 11-34t at the back gives me 1.4 (34t/48t) to 4.3 (11t/48t) and all I need a the MTB cassette and a 48t NW chain ring. My two questions are : 1) has anyone done this and is it a good idea? 2) where can I get a 48t BCD 130 narrow wide chain ring in SA?
  5. Myself and a friend ride in the Cradle 3 times a week. Leaving from Something Country on wednesday and friday afternoons at 3pm. And sunday mornings at 8am. If anyone would like to join they are welcome.
  6. Hi... So i've moved to Blairgowrie and looking for places to ride - both road and mtb. Drove past Delta park, down past Victory Park shopping centre and up towards Cresta today and saw a lot of people on their mtb's all around... So i'm wondering if anyone knows / have any info on these areas and possible trails to ride? Delta Park seems to be fenced off with a lot of people heading there with bikes, dogs and picnic baskets, so i'm guessing / hoping it's a good option for a nice ride? Also - on googlemaps it looks like there's a Braamfontein Spruit trail that goes all the way from Emmerentia dam to Witkoppen - how's that? Anyone ever rode there? Thanks
