  1. So I rencently had a SS bike built up for commuting (and doing this year's 94.7 Cycle Challenge). It's +/-1980's Sancini Cinelli road frame, sprayed matt black with a matt clear coat. We used black components as far as possible and silver where we had trouble finding black. SR Suntour SS Chainset with Integrated Chain Guard and black rims with silver spokes. I wanted bullhorn bars, but we had trouble finding ones that fit the stem, so we ended up flipping and chopping off drops. 42T-18TThanks to Glen Abraham (Bikes & Bicycles) for sourcing all the components and building the bike to my specifications! I can really recommend him.I love technology and gadgets and find projects such as Revolights (http://revolights.com) and Project Aura (http://aurabicycles.com) really cool. Unfortunately they are also very expensive. So I set out to build my own wheel lights using a couple of red and white LEDs. I think it turned out pretty awesome for a first prototype.Posted some pics on Google+ https://plus.google....sts/UyKGLWbuq7A

  3. Have all of the track bikes been converted to single speed road bikes, why can't I get hold of a decent track bike? Anyone got a good track bike for sale in a size 56cm or 58cm please let me know.
  4. Things have been a bit quiet, too quiet, on my front with the build. That's largely down to me doing an about-turn on the paint job. Click here to view the article
  5. I have a frame a and a few parts and am contemplating building a single speed, but is there really a market for single speeds? What is the limit of what I can spend on this bike before it is too much? Anybody have some info would be great?
  6. Well I picked an old Hansom up today to use it on the indoor trainer and maybe fit a power tap to it later. But while stripping it I noticed that it is missing the old seat post bolts for the steel frame. I phoned around but no one seems to know where I can get them. My next question is do I kit it out as a single speed and make it pretty, or keep it stock for nostalgia purposes.
  7. I am finalising my Single speed build kit and have been finding it more difficult than what I had anticipated. Click here to view the article
  8. I am converting a roadie frame into a single speed commuter. I have been been given a Shimano MTB crankset for free. But now I am confused as to which BB to put on the bike. Do I put on a MTB BB and the put the spacers on the frame side? Or do I put on a road BB to fit the frame and then put the spacers on the crank side (outside) of the BB? Have I made a boobie by having to choose a BB? PS: if anyone knows where I can get a set of FREE road brake callipers you would rock a lot!
  9. Designed in South Africa and, funnily enough, inspired by the Braamfontein Spruit, the Rogue has had a quiet beginning. And this truly suits its style because it is beautifully understated. We find out if this translates into fun on the trail, where the Rogue was designed to excel. Click here to view the article
