  10. Seeing as there are no Maxxis DHR II or Agressor tyres in 29er 2.3" in the country I'm looking for feedback on the following two tyres as a rear tyre on an enduro/trail bike! I'm also open to other recommendations! Most of my riding is done on dry hard pack, rock gardens, loose rocks and roots. Predominantly in Tokai as well as Hoogekraal, Contermanskloof, Jonkershoek etc. Grip is important but I still want the tyre to roll fast! I'm currently running a DHF upfront! I was looking at the Specialized Eliminator 29x2.3" with a grid trail casing and T7 rubber compound as well as the Schwalbe Hanz Dampf 29x2.35" in a super trail/super gravity casing and the addix soft rubber compound! Would love to hear your experiences and feedback with these tyres?

  12. Press release The creation of our Aethos road bike started with a question: “What if?” Download attachment: Aethos_Experience_California_8.jpg What if we built a bike focused around the purest imaginable road riding experience? What if we built a bike to maximize the timeless moments where everything disappears and human and machine become one. We all know these moments, the ones where we lose ourselves in the reverence of dancing up a climb or telepathically carving through a turn, where we feel liberated from the constraints that surround everyday life and the miles just melt into hours. 13. Press Release Shaped by everything we’ve learned from 40 years of XC racing, the all-new Chisel is a purebred XC race machine that crushes climbs, rockets out of corners, and rips through rock gardens with the speed and efficiency of the highest-performing, most-capable aluminium XC bike available. Turns out carbon isn’t the only way to the top of the podium, after all. Click here to view the article
  14. Press release The Tarmac SL7 puts an end to compromise, and racing will never be the same. Climb on the lightest bike the rules allow, sprint on the fastest - all with legendary Tarmac handling. It’s like we combined Julian Alaphilippe’s attacking, climbing style, and Peter Sagan’s aggressive power in a single rider with no weaknesses. The only choice you need to make is when to attack. 15. Hi Guys, It's time to upgrade my MTB. Looking at getting a Full Sus 29'er and have a budget of around 30k. I mostly do XC and Marathon style riding. Hoping to do some stage races like Wines2Whales and Sani. Was keen on the Specialized Epic Comp (Aluminium Frame) which was on special for R30k but unfortunately they all sold out before I could get my hands on one... So need some advice relating to other brands and options. What advice do you guys have in terms of 1. Going second hand? Heard some scary stories about expensive repairs to the shocks... 2. Specialized. Would love to get an Epic. But not sure about the Brain and the 150hr services I'll need to send it away for. Any experience with this? ....Kinda wanna just get one anyway 3. Momsen? I've seen some pretty good deals on their bikes. But their frame guarantee is only for 3 years? Anyone have any experience with their VIPA RACE ONE? Seriously considering getting this one since I'm not so sure an Epic at around 30k is realistic. Thanks in advance guys. Will appreciate any insight or experience!

  17. It has been just three years since the launch of the previous Epic but Specialized's engineers have not been idle. The all-new 2021 Epic boasts a complete rethink on the bike's geometry as well as changes to the Brain system to improve reliability and extend service intervals. Click here to view the article
  18. The new Specialized Epic Evo has been given its own unique identity in the Epic range. Where the previous Epic Evo was a straightforward specification change, the new Epic now has its own rear triangle, suspension layout, and no Brain! These changes aim to create an Epic that is more capable and comfortable on the trails than the Brain version. Click here to view the article
  19. Electric-assisted mountain bikes are hugely fun bikes to ride but the one unavoidable consequence of a motor and battery is the added weight and the impact that has on the ride feel versus a regular bike. The Specialized Turbo Levo SL is a bold attempt to redefine e-MTBs with a lightweight bike that has the agility of a regular trail bike while packing a functional range. View full article
  20. Apologies in advance if someone has asked this at some point, I did search the forums. I have a 2016 Specialized Camber and a 2016 Stumpjumper. The Camber has a "Brain" shock, the Stumpy has a non-brain shock. I prefer my Stumpy's rear shock, actually I prefer my Stumpy's whole shock setup to the Camber (it's fun). I'd like to be able to experiment with different shocks, but everything on the local second-hand market seems to have a different mount to what's on my Camber. I don't know what this mount is called, but it seems to be *the* standard rear shock mounting system. A website called bikeyoke sells an adapter which allows the use of standard shocks on a 2016 Camber, but these adapters, before shipping and customs duties, are about R 1700 (probably going to be about R 3000 all up as an estimate). Does anyone have any suggestions on an adapter available locally that is this price or less? Am I wasting my time wanting to try out different shock options? Maybe I'm expecting too much of my Camber.
  21. I bought a Specialized Roubaix SL4 Sport through the classifieds (not disk brakes). I want to give road cycling a go. The bike is very cool. It's pretty, unbelievably light (especially compared to my Camber). I'm investigating putting gravel wheels/tyres onto it. There are a few fun back roads near Durbanville including lots of gravel to explore. It's probably not possible to install gravel tyres/wheels, there's very little clearance between the front fork and the current tyre (enough for a finger). Does anyone have any experience or advice for putting gravel wheels onto a Roubaix SL4 ? Unreasonable ? Buy a Diverge ? Stick to your MTB ? Thanks

  23. Hi Guys, I need your expert opinion please. Last year I bought a Specialised Stump Jumper 29 with 120mm travel front and back. As you progress you get fast and fast means more travel wouldn't be a bad idea. I have a revelation front shock and fox rear. Is there a reliable amount to increase the travel by without affecting the geometry too much? Has anyone done this before? I have googled and cant find out much. On a side note, anyone know the widest you can go on tyres on the non boost frame? Thank you for your assistance as always
  24. Opinions please. Images of item attached... Purchased 2FO 2.0, from Cedar Square (JHB), after two rides at the PWC Bike Park and Northern Farm, if anything +- 60km the left front foot toe area, pinkie toe side, started coming undone. Dropped the shoes off at Cedar square and they were sent off to Cape Town. Received feedback today to say warranty has been declined. Called Cape Town Head Office and spoke to Mark who actually did a report on the shoe. No, I haven't seen the "report". The warranty was declined as a result of the shoe being caught on "something". Maybe my pedals. No matter who this is taken up with me the warranty decision won't be changed - this after Mark apologising for "I'm sorry I feel that way". One of the main points on the Specialized website is "Smooth, thermobonded upper for lightweight durability and a snag-free profile" https://www.specialized.com/us/en/2fo-flat-2-0-mountain-bike-shoes/p/134052 After close on 4 years the impact vxi have started to come undone. Totally reasonable and exceeded expectations. Thought I'd give the new and improved 2FOs a go and never expected them to make it through through only two rides. Beyond annoyed... Looking to take this further and would like to know if the wear on a flat pedal shoe - that have never been ridden anywhere near the terrain of Whistler or an Enduro event (for goodness sake Northern farm & PWC??) - is acceptable after two rides due to snagging on, maybe, my pedals (Spank Spoon); or should these be considered snagged on my pedals and be done with it? Images: Left foot "snag" image (snagless design according to the site) Both shoes - right shoe for reference Sole - still in good nick
  25. Hello everyone, I want to start riding dirt jumps, but I can't seem to find any stockists. Does anybody know of a stockist in South Africa?
