  2. Hi just want to bring this ad to the attention of someone who's scott scale 910 was stolen. The ad has suspicion written all over it. http://www.gumtree.co.za/a-sports-bicycles-fitness/city-centre/scott-pro-mountain-bike-super-condition/1001217075270910007793809
  3. Hi Everyone, Today I bring some rather sad news. My bicycle(very similar to attached Pic) was stolen out of my car in the early hours of Thursday morning(27/11/14), along with all my cycling bag with all my kit in it, and my normal clothes bag. I had packed the car around 9pm on Wednesday evening to go home on Thursday. The car was parked at my commune in Hatfield, Pretoria. I want to warn people out there who come across a deal that is to good to be true with a bike like this. Please be on the look out for this bike. The bike is a Cannondale Flash 29er, Factory Racing frame, SRAM XO groupset, Carbon Lefty Fork with a boot. On the off chance you come across anything like it, please email me at julian.wertheim.aymes@tuks.co.za Please share this post and encourage your friends to share it around South Africa, and the South African Cycling community.
  4. With a new bicycle rack design, a bicycle labelling system and new signage to raise awareness, the Singapore Police Force and National Crime Prevention Council hope to tackle the theft of bicycles.http://www.channelnewsasia.com/image/1489124/1416721239000/large16x9/768/432/bicycle-lock.jpg SINGAPORE: Three key Anti-Bicycle Theft Initiatives were announced by the Singapore Police Force (SPF) and the National Crime Prevention Council (NCPC) on Sunday (Nov 23). The first initiative is a pilot of a new bicycle rack design, named Lock Lah, which improves on the security of old racks without high costs and space requirements. Launched on Nov 7 at nine locations across the island (such as Velocity mall, Teck Whye Lane and parts of Hougang), it impedes access to the front wheel of the bicycle, while offering additional loops to secure the frame and back wheels with a cable lock. In coming up with the prototype design, the rack's designers - a trio of Indonesian international students - studied various bicycle shapes from around the world, and eventually won a competition organised by the SPF and the NCPC organised from February to July last year. The second initiative is an enhanced bicycle labelling system. In partnership with bicycle online classifieds and forum Togoparts, the SPF now offers each bicycle owner a label with a unique serial number for each bicycle owned. With this number, owners can then provide information about the particular bike online such as its model, features and colours, as well as submit photos. They can also specify if the bicycle is currently in their possession, lost, stolen or found. http://www.channelnewsasia.com/blob/1489128/1416721222000/bicycle-register-data.jpg Finally, new anti-theft bicycle signage will be posted near bicycle racks across the island to increase awareness of bicycle theft. About 7,000 of such signage has already been posted, with more to be rolled out in phases. These measures are part of a continuous effort to tackle theft of bicycles. Though figures have fallen since last year - 588 cases were reported for the period of January to June this year, compared to 630 for the same period in 2013 - the Police say such theft remains a major concern.

  7. Please keep a lookout for my bike (black and dark grey Cannondale). Three dark coloured men threw me off my bike just outside Stellenbosch (on R44) on Saturday, 18 October 2014 and drove away with my bike in the direction of Cloetesville. Thank you!
  8. White Titan 29" stolen at Virgin Active in Cape Town at 06:30... please have a look out for this....
  9. Hey Guys, I was at a friends house earlier, on palmyra road, just between the vet and mariendahl road (claremont), I took my bike in their drive-way, parked it at the end around the corner of the house, so not visible from the road, and it was stolen while I was in the house. (stolen between 1pm and 5pm) I don't think I have any pictures of it, but I know a lot detail... Here goes some of it: Blue Scott speedster S3 frame, it's massive, 61cm, and the seat was high (I'm 193cm or so). Black carbon DEDA fork Silver BBB seatpost Anodized blue vuelta airline road rims (rear wheel very out of true, recently had a pretty bad crash) with gatorskins tyres. 39/16 ratio, silver, shimano ultegra crankset, 8 spline BB (not hollowtech). old road clip-in pedals (the old popular look exus pedals) Red anodized alu straight bars, cut short. champagne corks as bar-ends, wrapped black suede leather grips (done myself, not the best job) Black brake levers (straight bar levers) Normal silver road caliper brakes The stem was a ritchey comp stem, I think. Also has a little orange "B" cut out of tape on the frame somewhere (under the down-tube, or behind the seat-tube, somewhere like that). Also took that with my helmet, a blue Bell "faction" helmet, which I'll post a stock photo of, it had some stickers on it (a big yellow thumbs-up and B-E-N in orange tape too), because my name is Ben... duh. If you guys see anything like this, anything similar, please phone/email/getahold of me ASAP, the bike was really comfortable for me, so I kinda want it back. 0787115873, benjamin.r.bingham@gmail.com.
  10. Hi Guys My Swift R838 road bike was stolen from my room yesterday. It is quite a rare and distinct bike. It has a brilliant red, white and black paint job, integrated seatpost, SRAM red and easton wheels. I realise the chances of getting her back are pretty slim but please keep an eye out. Below is a picture of the bike taken sometime. The wheels are now easton EA90's and the bar tape is black not white. Everything else remains unchanged. Thanks
  11. Don't message me - I'm just re-posting a Gumtree ad I saw There's an ad on Gumtree - looking for owner of a bike. Suspected stolen - guy asking whose it is bike it is. (don't go nail the guy - he's looking for the owner) If you know the owner, send him the link. http://www.gumtree.co.za/a-sports-bicycles-fitness/tableview/notice-do-you-know-of-anyone-that-has-had-a-scott-spark-elite-recently-stolen-from-them/1001148761730910017407209 The ad reads as follows: On Friday I bought a bicycle for my son from a guy near the Seven Eleven, Sandown Rd, he approached me asking if I am Interested. It turns out that I am looking for a Bike for my son to commute to school with. After a very sad story of his father passing away last week and him and his mother needing cash, I told him my budget was lower for my son bike. After I did my shopping he approached me again on my way home accepting my offer. When I showed my son the bike he almost fell off his chair. We did some internet research to find the bike value to be much higher raising my suspicion. I took down details from the guy but it seems dodgy, the phone number is message mode, and the address I will try again.

  16. Hey guys. This might be me just over reacting, but on my way through Irene (just outside Irene about 200m from the golf club) this afternoon I spotted a bike that looked very much like a Ritchey mtb, the red, white and blue, ridden by someone that I doubt can fork out that kinda money (dirty overall etc). Unfortunately I was in the car and already at speed when I spotted this bloke, so it wasn't possible for me to stop mid traffic. This all happened at 15.10. Hopefully this points someone in the right direction
  17. Bike shops and customers can now check a bicycle's history through Bike Checker and BikeRegister unveils code of practice for second-hand bike shops BikeRegister has launched a free Bike Checker service to help cycle retailers verify they are buying bikes from a genuine source. The new Bike Checker facility can be used by both retailers and members of the public to check the origin of second-hand bikes being offered to them for sale. According to BikeRegister, more than half of all bike thefts take place from an owner’s property and bike thieves are becoming increasingly more organised, with the ease with which a stolen bike can be sold continuing to encourage the theft of bikes. Alongside the BikeChecker facility, BikeRegister has unveiled a new Code of Practice for the Purchase and Sale of Second-hand bikes. The code of practice has been developed in conjunction with the Metropolitan Police Service’s Cycle Task Force and other police partners who are looking at ways to expand the successful Project Cycle Ops launched a year ago by Chief Superintendent Sultan Taylor, which delivered a reduction of cycle crime in London of over 10 per cent in its first year. 20. A mate of mines bike was stolen please keep a look out!! See below mail from him! Can you please put the word out. I had a high end mtb that was stolen on Saturday (see details below) and I’m desperately trying to get it back. It’s a very unique bike and you won’t find many of them. Please can you help by forwarding to everyone you know. On Saturday 26th April someone stole my mtb off the back of a Thule bike rack that it was locked on to. It happened in the mall in Glena Marais shopping centre where Finish Line Cycles is and security miraculously never saw anything despite being less than 20 meters away. The bike is a Scott Scale SL 900. The entire bike is matt black with an XX1 groupset, Rockshox fork, carbon Syncross wheels and finishing kit. Non standard items are black ESI grips and Geax Sagaro tubeless tyres. It has a small white tipex marking on the seat pin where it goes into the frame and also on the saddle rails from when the bike was fitted for me. There are small scratches on the inside of the rear triangle caused by a piece of wire that got stuck in the wheel a while ago. Bike is a medium and 2013 model in excellent nick. Please look out for it cos it's very rare and worth about R80k and I’m not insured. Happy to pay a reward. Richard 0768133326
  21. Hi guys, seems if some lost/stolen bikes might have been recovered... Have a look at the article in the newspaper... Not much details but sounds like it is only road bikes. Laingsburg Police: Tel: 023 551 8200 LaingsburgSAPS@saps.org.za
  22. Hi guys, please keep your eyes open for my Sarto... I rode the Vineyard Race at Lourensford this morning, afterwards racked and strapped it up and went to watch the Epic finishers come in for about an hour or two. When I came back, my bike was gone, luckily we put the other one in the back. This Sarto was custom built for me, very large frame, so not much use to most people. And I need it for the Sani! Black naked carbon frame, white decals Fox shock DTswiss 1800 wheels with Continentals, X-King/Race-King XT groupset Formula brakes My 2013 Epic sticker was still on the top of the frame: 614-1 Frame number under BB: 56CFX63 Please phone me with any news please! 082 563 0917 Much appreciated!
  23. Hello Everyone.. After watching the race the morning, I offered to take a friends bike home with me to have it boxed and sent to Johannesburg. Put it on my bike rack around 2pm., and then went back to the finish to see another friend finish. Was gutted to see that the bike was stolen off my rack when I got to my car to leave.. As can be expected the car guards didn't see anything, their excuse being, there was so many bikes around that it's hard to spot the buggers.. Can appreciate that. If anyone sees or hears about a bike like this being sold, please let me know. There aren't many of them around. Description : 2013 KTM Myroon Master. Full carbon hardtail Full XT Fox fork Got the serial number and 1/2 other identifiable things, so if found.. please advise.
  24. So so sad, my SOMA Double Cross Disc, was stolen last night. Please keep an eye out for me. It is an unusual bike in that it is a steel framed road bike with disk brakes.
