  5. The Isuzu Trucks PE Plett Mountain Bike stage race is in its third year of existence and Isuzu Truck South Africa is once again proud to be the title sponsor. The race extends over a four-day period and a distance of 340 kilometres, from Port Elizabeth to Plettenberg Bay, so training for a race of this nature takes a lot of time and effort in trying to successfully complete the tough route. Isuzu Trucks struck a chord with cyclists in April when they announced a competition as a lead-up to this year’s Isuzu Trucks PE Plett Mountain Bike stage race. Click here to view the article
  6. Hi guys I've picked an issue this week when syncing my rides to Strava from my Edge 510. The problem only occurs when logging trainer rides. It syncs correctly, however there's no speed, Heart rate, power, distance, nothing. What I do see is an average speed of 500km/h +. The information on the Garmin is correct and is visible on Garmin Connect. I've logged trainer sessions before without this happening, anyone have a similar experience?
  7. Are you up for a challenge? Isuzu Trucks are giving away four team entries for the Isuzu Trucks PE Plett MTB Race, taking place 3 – 6 September 2015. The Isuzu Trucks Endurance Challenge kicked off today (20 April 2015) and over the next four weeks you'll be faced with a series of Strava-based challenges. If you complete them all you'll go into the draw to win one of the four team entries plus R 5000 towards your travel. Click here to view the article
  8. Hi Guys I'd like to buy a "WAHOO RPM CADENCE SENSOR " it cost only 50 usd and from the review seems like working fine. I use starva on my iphone 6 when I bike so I would connect the wahoo rpm cadence to get the RPM data, seeing that I don't have any speed sensor connected would I need to buy as well the "Wahoo Fitness SC Cycling Speed & Cadence" ? or it won't be needed it ? and using the gps to get the speed would be fine enough? I'm just at the beginning and bike around 60 km at time,4 times at week Thanks
  9. I noticed a number of inaccurate elevation measurements from strava. Anyone know why?
  10. Somebody provided a link to Alban Lakata's Strava entry for his Meerendal victory on the Ashburton Meerendal event thread. I went and checked it out and to my somewhat surprise saw he has 1500 followers. Do you guys follow any pro's and for what reason? Is there anything to learn from looking at some of the pro's stats?
  11. So, I've now done some scientific experimentation and need some input. I ride with a Garmin Edge 810. I upload the data into strava. Now, when I load the data into Garmin connect, it shows the ride distance as 83.12Km. On Strava, the exact same ride load from the same Garmin 810 shows 81.2km. All other ride data is the same - elevation, time. How is this possible that the same dataset from can give different results for distance? I know Strava's app overestimates distance versus the Garmin, but here Strava is making the Garmin distance shorter! pics attached.

  13. Hi there all, I know this is NOT a major issue... but I'm interested non the less. There are segment KOM's that are obviously achieved using motorised help... Is there a way to remove them ? not accusing anyone, but maybe just driving home and forgot to switch gps off ...
  14. Fancy an entry into the 2014 FNB Wines2Whales Ride? If you're up for a challenge, Food Lover's Market have got three entries up for grabs. You've got 30 days to rack up as many kilometres, calories or hours as you can. The winner in each category will earn themselves a team entry (and a nice bit of fitness as a bonus). 15. Someone has flagged one of my favourite little climbs as "hazardous" on Strava! Straight road on tar! It turns out that there is no way to get this flag removed. Please comment on on this thread and upvote to try to get Strava to implement a fix. https://strava.zendesk.com/entries/47450040
  16. I really want to do this but i'm looking for a few partners in crime On Sunday 20th July 2014, join thousands of women around the world to ride 100km. A global event, ride on your own or join an organised ride. Rides will be taking place everywhere, including several led by Rapha. Over 4,000 women took part in 2013 — this year we’re aiming to double that number. Its a STRAVA challenge as well Anyone else keen?
  17. I noticed a number of inaccurate evalution measurements from strava. Anyone know why?
  18. Hi All! I'm a fine art student at the University of Pretoria and also a cyclist! We are currently doing a project on silkscreen printmaking. I have chosen to use textiles as a medium. It is quite a lengthy and sometimes complicated process, but in the end the prints always look fabulous!I've done some designs on my computer that I can then print on any size white t-shirt or tank top and would like to know if people will be interested in buying silkscreen t-shirts. I thought this might be a nice way to make a few bucks to pay off my new bike .The nice thing about these shirts will be that there will only be a few made and the inks that are used are of very high quality. I have printed some t-shirts for myself and my boyfriend already which have came out great. Please have a look at the designs at let me know if you think that this is something you will be interested in buying or if this is a horrible failed attempt . Also if you like them, which designs do you prefer? I will be asking around R120 for ladies shirts and R150 for mens, which includes postage in South-Africa. I'm only doing black and white prints as color inks tend to get really expensive.
  19. Just saw a new feature that's being piloted in San Fran: http://www.strava.com/races Race at any time during the four-day competition window Compete alongside friends or run it on your own Run as many times as you want - no limit on the number of attempts Quite a lekker feature if you ask me. No control on cheating, but the general idea is awesome.
