    I thought it made sense to start a thread with some of the photos of our trip in Northern Thailand. We’re doing it with Trailhead out of Chiang Mai. 6 days / 6 nights. Each day takes us further north into more remote areas. Day 1 is the easiest day and involved crossing a lake and then riding through some of the thickest mud I have ever encountered through the forest. It was tons of fun and we ended it off with a little road section through rice paddies and blue skies. Total distance was 46km with 551m of climbing.

    It's our first time doing Sani2C this year. Super excited! Looking at different travel options - with fuel prices increasing, it's impacting on cost of driving and flying 🙄 At this point, flying is looking like the cheaper option. But was wondering if there's a minibus with a trailer that transports people and bikes from Cape Town to Sani2C and back? Any travel suggestions welcome.

    Hi all, I will be flying to the US with Qatar. I have a Scicon aerocomfort road bike bag. Will this be accepted with Qatar? Is it necessary to turn the handlebars around or can I put my bike in as is with handlebars in place in the Scicon bag? Thanks!

    Please share this very urgent warning to all South African athletes, especially cyclists. After the trauma I have experienced in the past 24hrs, I hope no one else falls into this trap. If you intend to travel overseas with your bicycle, or any other sporting equipment of a similar size (surfing, wind surfing, paragliding etc). Please please PLEASE don't book your flights with Emirates!!!!! You will regret it as much as I am doing now when you pitch up at the airport with your bike bag/box and get slapped with a $500 US (R7500) charge to have your bike on the plane. Emirates advertises a new baggage policy (effective April 2016), with an impressive 2x 23kg pieces of luggage per traveller when flying from/to Africa. What is hidden in the fine-print however, is that they limit the size of these pieces to nothing bigger than a medium sized suitcase. You try fitting a bike, kit, clothes and everything else you need to compete overseas with, into 2 suitcase....in fact, just try fitting a bicycle into that space. Emirates has effectively banned all athletes from travelling overseas on their airline and I am sure there are a lot of people who's travels and plans are going to be horribly ruined in the near future. PLEASE PLEASE PLEASE SHARE!!!

Feel free to add something that might be even better than the options listed. PS. We are in the early stages of planning a trip for 2020 or 2021, but we don't know where we want to go.     Has anyone come across a situation where they want a more progressive feel to their fork for for aggressive trail riding and found that said for cannot accept tokens or spacers as with RS & FOX? I have fantastic Suntour Epixon TR (Trail) 15mm thru bolt with 130mm travel on my hardtrail which I am bumping to 140mm but, I want the fork to feel just bit more progressive. Instead of a top cap like RS where you can screw the tokens in to and then add more tokens these have a top cap that has a yellow sponge cylinder that you can cut down to make it less progressive but, you cannot make it longer to add progression. Any ideas on a what could work bearing in mind that this is NOT an open bath system and works with the air cartridge and has no oil in the air chamber as with other brands? The more entry level TK30 Gold and Silver RS forks suffer the same fate along with Suntour Raidon and XCR air forks

    Hi fellow cyclists Voete_bike_fanie, wants to go to Nepal and ride along the country side with bicycles. I would like to go during the December holidays, its not to warm and not too cold that time of year. I really don't mind any age, but preferably between 26-36 years of age. Moenie skaam wees nie, ons gaan nie te hard trap nie . My thoughts are sleeping over in tea houses, (ek wil nie kamp nie want dis nog uitgawes), at night and during the day doing some sightseeing, getting mauled by little children for sweats, trying not to fall off the cliffs to sudden death and exciting stuff like that. However I don't want to go alone so if anyone wants to join post here. Also any advice on travelling with bicycles or rather not from past experiences would be appreciated as this is my first time doing a bicycle expedition. I can't seem to find dual suser bikes in Kathmandu, will travelling on a hardtail be okay? I would be glad to hear from the community. Kind regards Voete_bike_fanie

    Looking for some advice. I want to take family (3 kids between 6-10) on a train trip to Prins Albert but would like to take our bikes along. We have traveled on Shosholoza Meyl before so comfortable with the conditions, etc I cannot find any info on whether it is possible to do this and how it will work. It used to be possible, but you need to put your bike into a storage carriage, which is risky and tedious. They don't formally allow you to bring your bike into the cabin. A long time ago, we also did a bike/train trip from Jhb to Nelspruit taking our bikes into cabin (folding back bottom bunks) for a ride through Swaziland and back to Nelspruit. I can saefly say that this was not done with the approval of the conductor, but ultimately they did not stop us (and we did book out the full cabin to enable us to do this). With small kids, it may be a bit stressful to try and slip 5 bikes in (and will require 2 compartments). Has anyone done this and have any advice to offer?

    So this race/event/trail festival has become something of a bucket list event, and it's in a bucket list place. I have been agitating on the hub intermittently for years promoting the riding in South America, so I've decided to put my money where my mouth is. I'll be going through next year (maybe to participate in the actual race, but mostly to enjoy the riding, atmosphere, and do some ground research for a project proposal I'm working on). My plan is to rent a house for a couple of weeks (one before, the week of the race/festival, and the week after). Dates for the racing are April 23-29th 2018. Will have about five lodging spaces available in the house but I have a number of contacts in the area who run hotels and B & B's so numbers aren't too much of an issue and most budgets can be accommodated I have lived in Ollantaytambo and guided most of the trails in the area (some still on my bucket list and I'll be checking them off this time).
