  1. My Canfield Jedi was stolen on 22 September in the Radiokop area. It’s a Large frame Downhill bike painted in mustard yellow. The bike is one of a kind, I suspect there isn’t more than 3 of them in SA. Fox 40 front shock Mavic EX823 wheel set with hope front hub, Industry 9 rear hub on Kenda tires Nukeproof seat, handlebars, grips stem and seatpost. If you have any information please please let me know (063 325 4938) , or contact the police immediately.
  2. I've got an older TREK Fuel EX trail-ish bike which I absolutely love, but I cannot find any decent 26" tires for it anywhere. Does anyone know where in the Gauteng region I can find decent 26" tires (don't say crossmark plz). Specifically looking for front tires currently. Used to run Specialized Eskars (26 x 2.3) but I've torn a few of them to shreds now. Tubeless obviously. Any help much appreciated, thanks
  3. I had a terrible fall with my Trek and broke the RST, looking at a replacement option as I have been unable to locate a RST 26" fork. Any advise available
  4. Hi Guys, I have a mate that recently got into MTB. He as an XC hard tail and is looking to go tubeless. Can anyone recommend a durable set of tubeless ready tyres on a tightish budget. I personally go for Maxxis UST. They're heavy but durable. But they're also not cheap. Continental-mountain-king is on special for R295 each but I also don't know how durable they are. I seem to remember them getting quite a few sidewall punctures. https://www.evobikes.co.za/continental-mountain-king-pure-grip-tl-26-x-2-2.html Any advice is welcome. I think R1000 or just over would be his max spend, and ideally less if something is a good compromise. Cheers!
  5. Hey guys, Here's the deal: I want to know how much you would pay for this 2011 Rocky Mountain Element 30msl. Let's say the condition is very good (see ad pics). Throw a figure out, or provide a range: highest and lowest amount depending on whatever your criteria are. The ad has everything you need to know. 26" lovers and haters are ALL WELCOME. Throw the offer on the ground or press it tightly to your bosom and sing sweet songs of longing. Thanks for your input.

  8. I'm looking for an indication on price range that I will pay for a second hand 26" frame with 142x12 thru axle. I need to do the calculations on whether it is worth it to buy a frame to enable me to use the wheels I have bought and if I should just cut my losses and try to get at least some of my money back. I have tried searching on the internet for what frames might have the 142x12 thru axle available and only the result I got was a 2011 Trek EX8. Seems my knowledge of bikes and google skills are lacking. If I could get an indication on hardtail and full suspension I would really appreciate it.
  9. Hello Everyone, I went riding today and had my wife come fetch me as we were heading off somewhere afterwards.......I took the rear wheel (26") off (I have a Cannondale Scalpel 3 - DT-Swiss Rim - Lefty Hub) in order to fit the bike into the back of her car and forgot the rear wheel behind. When I went back to fetch it it was gone. I don't have the $$$$ for a new rim, tyre, hub, spokes, disk, etc (i just bought the bike so i'm on a strict budget now) and was hoping someone knew where i could get a second hand one or a good deal on a new one? Thanks for the assistance.
  10. Hey guys I have a set of Rockshox Tora 302 forks. I'm not really sure what they are worth and since I want to upgrade to air forks, selling these would be a step forward. Here are the specs (that I know) Steerer tube: 1 1/8 inch Wheelsize: 26" Travel: 100mm Axle: Currently using QR Rebound adjustment Preload Adjustment I am hoping someone here could tell me what they are worth and whether I should consider keeping them or not. Thanks
  11. Hello dear members of BikeHub, My name is Giovanni - and I'm a total bike newbie. I've always jogged, but recently started to MTB with my dad, a few 10KM/20KM tracks nothing hectic, I'm really growing to enjoy this. I've been doing this on my mom's never-used Mongoose 26"er, however the frame is too small for me. The bike is a Mongoose Super Tyax with SRAM X-5 groupset, SIZE: EXTRA SMALL. 1. I'd like to know if this groupset can be used on any 26" frame? 2. Will I still be able to purchase just 26" frame at a store, since online they seem pretty rare recently. 3. My dad said he paid R1200 for his Gaint frame in 2011, will I still be able to get something for around this price? Of course I'm planning on going to a store here in Pretoria (any suggestions?) Saturday, however I don't want to be fooled into buying a completely new bike if I do not have to. This is just a hobby at the moment and I do not want to spend an arm and a leg since the X-5 seems great to me. Thanks so much Giovanni.
  12. I could go through all tyre manufacturers and list a high performance 26” product still in production from each but the short list below shows & proves that support is across the board. Tyre manufacturers are still committed to producing tyres for all available wheel sizes for every discipline, but I can’t see them continuing if the local distributers do not support the existing local market. So I ask you, who will kill the 26” wheel? Manufacturer, Product: - Continental, Trail King Full range - Maxxis, High Roller II Full range - Kenda, Nevegal X Pro Full range - Onza, Ibex Full range - Schwalbe, Magic Mary Full range - WTB, Vigilante Full range 26” rims are still in production and available locally from an extensive list of shops. You will still find high performance parts or wheel-sets being sold at competing size prices but you will be hard-pressed to find high performance rubber to wrap it. Why is there a disconnect between who rides and who imports and can something be done about import choices before it’s too late?
  13. I have a fs 26' carbon frame lying around and have been wondering if I could take it to a carbon frame repairer and extend an extra 2.5 cm at the skewer , that would make it be able to run a 650b wheel? Would this work?
  14. Hi guys. I am posed with a bit of a problem. I am looking at buying a entry level MTB. The plan is to ride once during the week and then over the weekends. Then doing at least one fun ride (about 10km) every 2 months. I am about 1.7 tall. (Read short). I have been looking at the Axis A60 (26'') hydraulic disc brakes or the Trek Marlin (29'') with mechanical disc brakes. The issue now is... do i go for a 26'' with better specs or for a 29'' and maybe look to upgrade components later. Alternatively the secondhand market is a entirely different prospect, but it does come down to the same question 29'' / 650b small frame (not too common for a good price) or a 26'' with reasonable specs (because everyone seems to be selling them to upgrade to 29'')? Please help?
