  1. At the risk of beating a dead donkey with a stick....does anyone know if ASG sports are still open for business? Been trying to source a set of replacement sole inserts for my Sidi Dragons from them for nearly a year now. I have repeatedly emailed all the usual perpetrators, but barring a promise to check up and revert back to me about 6 months ago, the silence has sadly been somewhat deafening & as of late their online store seems a little bit low on product. Any other means of sourcing Sidi spares in SA?, or do I have to go through the whole overseas sourcing and SAPO lottery delivery system....
  2. So I go after the bargains and order a high end pair of SIDI shoes at 50% off. A great deal, but the service that has followed is absolutely atrocious. The order was placed on Tuesday 10 Oct, and on the 17th still no feedback or status update. Three calls later, every time I'm told they will call me back within 5, 30 and 60 minutes, but alas. This is officially the worst service I have received from an online SA cycling store. Never again!!! Am I the only one who has had this experience?
  3. We are giving you the chance to help us create the BEST Online store in SA We are asking you to help us upload products that you would like to see on the Online Store. Just say the product or brand below and we will try our best to make it happen NB* We can't upload any competing brands to our products of ASG, So for instance no other nutrition brand ASG ONLINE

ASG Events is offering a 15% early bird entry discount for riders who enter for either event before 30 November 2016. 5. Just completed the ASG / Liberty Winelands event at which self-adhesive PVC stage profiles were issued. The stickers proved so tough, and yes sticky, that portion of my Scotts carbon fibre top-coat peeled off the frame along with the sticker when I removed it. (Spark Carbon Pro 2012) Evidently the stickers arefar more 'aggressive' than any other stage race decal I have used which have generally been low-tack and easy to remove. Damn I'm annoyed. Has anyone else had similar experience?
  6. The Emperors long MTB event was marketed and sold as a 50 km event. The actual distance however was only 42 km. I am suspicious that ASG in the interest of financial gain intentionally misled the public; knowing full well that had it been marketed as a 42km event it may have had an adverse effect on the number of entries. The event is very well organised therefore I don't believe it was a mistake.

  11. Entries for the Bestmed Tour of Good Hope, which takes place in the Western Cape from 6-10 March 2017, will close on Friday 3 February 2017. The five-day tour, which is South Africa’s premier road stage race, takes the rider contingent on an unforgettable 5-stage journey through the Cape Winelands and boasts riding categories for both professionals and amateurs. Riders who would still like to enter can go to www.tourofgoodhope.co.za to secure their entry. “It genuinely feels like we’re building something really special. Now only in its second year of presentation, the tour already constitutes South Africa’s premier stage race,” said event convenor, Wynand de Villiers of ASG Events. “The success of the Tour is underpinned by the formula which sees amateurs being afforded the opportunity to ride in a tour alongside the pros and experience everything the pros do – a leader’s jersey, KOM competition, team competition and daily lunches and spoils at the race village.” “It’s also excellent preparation for the Cape Town Cycle Tour, which happens two days after the Tour. Without exception, every open/seeded rider who has taken part in the Tour rides their best Argus ever. “This year we have seen many mountain-bikers enter. The Absa Cape Epic starts two weeks after the tour and they see it as the perfect opportunity to sharpen up. “We’ve already confirmed the participation of Karl Platt, Christoph Sauser and Sam Gaze. Even veteran mountain-biker Mannie Heymans is getting in on the act – he’s bringing a Namibian team to ride in the Tour.” According to De Villiers, because the event takes place at a time when temperatures in Europe haven’t quite warmed up yet, the Tour of Good Hope has become an attractive proposition for European based pros and amateurs. “We have more than 100 amateur riders from Europe who have entered in the individual open/seeded category.” Paarl is a half hour drive from Cape Town on the N1, which has seen many Cape Town Cycle Tour riders elect to extend their stay in the Western Cape by a week to take part in the event. The race format comprises a central race village hub at the beautiful La Paris Estate just outside Paarl and five stages covering a total of 490km and 5218m of vertical ascent. The first stage is largely flat and fast and a nice leg loosener while stage 2 presents a 25km time trial. Riders entered in the Amateur Teams competition complete a Team Time Trial while solo riders do an individual race against the clock. Stages 3 and 4 are the Tour’s queen stages which traverse Franschhoek Pass, Du Toits Kloof Pass and Bains Kloof Pass. Both stages are presented over 140km respectively and are the major challenges of the 5-day Tour. The 5th stage is flat and fast, apart from the final ascent up to the Iconic Taal Monument finish on the Paarl Mountain. FOR ALL THE ROUTE INFORMATION, CLICK HERE Through basing itself in the Paarl/Franschhoek valley, costs and logistical hassles are kept to a minimum. Travelling and accommodation have been simplified while the incorporation of some of the best and most famous cycling routes and mountain passes in the Western Cape has really distinguishes the event. 20. The South African cycling fraternity has received a boost with leading global sport and cycling industry player ASG announcing they have attracted a significant strategic investment from South African Enterprise Development (SAED). "This investment will see us fast-track our growth and international expansion," ASG founder and CEO Heinrich Dannhauser said after the news broke today. "We welcome SAED on board as our strategic partner as we broaden our product offering and events to the ever growing cycling market." He said as a trusted cycling brand in South Africa, ASG operated through subsidiaries ASG Sport Solutions, ASG Events and Italy-based ASG International. Besides distributing top brands like Pinarello, Rudy Project, SIDI and High5, they also own and stage some of the country's leading cycle races – among them the Bestmed Tour of Good Hope. Through ASG International, they own custom cycling clothing brand F-tech and global bike transportation solution Scicon, which is distributed in more than 60 countries. SAED managing director David Pimstein said ASG had developed strong relationships with international distributors and provided a full and differentiated distribution solution. "They are however not just distributors, but brand owners with an exciting vision to grow their business in Italy, South Africa and globally." Pimstein said the combination of capital, experience in designing and manufacturing premium consumer goods and a dynamic team would take the business to the next level. "We look forward to partnering with this passionate company for many years to come." SAED is a specialised investment company that provides expansion capital to entrepreneurial companies with high growth potential. In addition to providing capital, by partnering with SAED, portfolio companies have access to the broad relationships and business networks of SAED. SAED also provides advice, mentoring and a strong sounding board to entrepreneurs to help unlock and capacitate a high growth strategy for their businesses (www.saenterprise.co.za). Dannhauser said the early results of the growth investment were already evident with the imminent launch of leading American mountain bike brand, Ellsworth, in SA. The ASG executive management team, which include Steyn du Plessis (ASG Sport), Wynand de Villiers (ASG Events) and Massimo Fantin at ASG International in Bassano, will remain unchanged.
