  3. http://i9.cmail2.com/ti/j/E1/3D5/F9D/194019/images/asg_news2.png .............................................................................................................................................................. .............................................................................................................................................................. RIDER COMMUNIQUE http://i2.cmail2.com/ei/j/CE/661/B34/csimport/2015Silverstarlogo.113542.jpg Our route crew have just finished their mammoth task on the final descent for Saturday's event and the result is sublime. Riders who are familiar with the Krugersdorp Ridge will remember the cutting from some previous editions which brings the event back to Silverstar at the end of both distances, but they won't recognise it with various bridges having now been built and lots of landfill work having been done to make it rideable all the way to the bottom. Quick riders in the 40km event are advised that they will encounter slow traffic on this section and they need to be cautious on their way down. RACING SNAKES NEED TO BE VERY VOCAL ON THE DESCENT TO ALERT SLOWER RIDERS OF THEIR PASSING. We will have marshals that will try and keep slow traffic left for the faster guys to pass, but there are no guarantees, SO PLEASE BE CAUTIOUS. Unfortunately the dynamics on the route don't allow free passage for the 40km racing snakes on this section - the only way was to allow the 40km riders to start 2 hours before the 20km, but this isn't possible due to start and finish logistics. We've traditionally had the quicker 40km guys link up with the 20km route in the final few kilometers of the event so this year won't be any different - all riders are just requested to be courteous. The Bicycle Company in Muldersdrift has let us know that they are going to have some great specials on High 5 supplements at number collection on Friday, so look out for these specials if you are collecting in Muldersdrift on Friday. Starting times for the batches are as follows: 08h00: 40km batch A 08h05: 40km batch B 08h10: 40km batch C 08h20: 20km batch A 08h25: 20km batch B All riders have to report to the registration venues to collect number boards, batch stickers and race packs. Every rider will receive a temporary Spectrum Sport timing board which they have to affix to their handlebars with cable straps. These boards have to be handed in at the finish line once you’ve completed your ride. RIDERS WILL NOT BE PERMITTED TO RIDE WITH THEIR PERMANENT SAS BOARDS. Registration venues: Thursday 3 September 2015: Cycle Lab Superstore, Fourways (10h00 – 16h00) Friday 4 September 2015: The Bicycle Company Muldersdrift (10h00 – 16h00) Riders who cannot get to these venues will be helped on the morning from 07h00 at the main entrance to the Casino, but will not receive race packs and will not be able to collect any race merchandise. There will be event T-shirts on sale at registration (limited sizes) - please enquire from our crew. Our route crew under the guidance of experienced route builder Darren Herbst have been working hard on the route and we will do our utmost to help everyone have a pleasant day out on the bike. With more than 1000 riders entered, it’s inevitable that the route will be congested in certain areas where the 20km and 40km events are on the same stretches. The Hillsnacks climb does, however, provide ample distance to stretch bunches out and the route keeps climbing for a further 2km after riders exit off the R28. The split point is at the 13km mark where the 40km ride turns back onto the mountain for a sublime loop on the Ridge while the 20km riders turn down towards the finish line. The split point is clearly marked in the lead-up as well as at the split, so make sure you look out for it. The two distances join each other again shortly before the final descent. The final descent down the old ox wagon trail is technical, but we’ve done a lot of work on it to try and make it ride-able. The race starts inside Silverstar Casino’s new top parking lot above the complex (not the bottom parking area next to the boom gates as was the case in previous years) and goes out onto the R28 tarred main road climb before turning left into the bush on the Krugersdorp Ridge. Metro police will provide an escort and pointsmen on this section and we request riders to be cautious until we leave the main road (big thanks to Chief Sup Bryan Murray and his officers!). There are two water points on the route, which are stocked with PowerAde and Coke as well as tasty titbits, including koeksisters and crunchy cookies. We ask riders to be courteous at all times and stick to the left of the track whenever possible to allow faster riders to pass. NO SHOUTING AT SLOWER RIDERS WILL BE TOLLERATED AND THE ORGANISERS RESERVE THE RIGHT TO DISQUALIFY ANY RIDER DUE TO MISCONDUCT IN THIS REGARD. The boom gates at Silverstar Casino will be open from 6:30 on Saturday. Prize giving is in the Piazza in front of the big screen at 11:00. Festivities are hosted by the “Voice of Cycling” in South Africa, Johnny Koen. The prize giving function will be broadcast on the big screen, creating a nice atmosphere at the venue. The finish line is inside the Super Dome at Silverstar For directions to the venue go to www.silverstarcasino.co.za A big thank you to our sponsors and partners: Pennypinchers Silverstar Casino Mogale City Metro Police Action Ford High 5 Ftech Rudy Project For further information email eventsupport@asgworld.co.za or phone 076 621 1807 .............................................................................................................................................................. http://i3.cmail2.com/ei/j/CE/661/B34/csimport/BESTEMEDRACES2015editable_Page_1.055748.jpg FOR ENTRIES AND INFO ON THE BESTMED SATELLITE CLASSIC, CLICK HERE.
