  1. So we are a bunch of friends heading down to the Annual Knysna Oyster festival for the July Holiday with one simple rule - enter at least the half marathon run on the 7th. Great, we will all stay in Buffelsbaai for the weekend, I have 2 weeks of leave and has come up with this marvelous idea of getting to Buffelsbaai on my bicycle. I have 4 days so i have planned it as follows. Day 1 Robertson to Barrydale. Day 2 Barrydale to Riversdale. Day 3 Riversdale to Hartenbos (where some of my colleuges will stay)(backroades) Day 4 George to Buffelsbaai (via 7passes). All and all about 390km My idea is to take only the necessary clothing and a extra pair of cycling clothes. This is an opportunity to ride the amazing gravel back roads, experience some small town hospitality and get a good winter base training in. I will be on my full sus MTB for this trip I need some comments on the route i plan to take. Anything to watch out for, must do stops, route tips, dangerous areas, places to stay. Basically anything useful since i have never done this.( note I am a experienced cyclist, just not a experienced bike-packer) This is the link to my google maps route - https://goo.gl/maps/e4fbrFALWqQ2 Go check it out Thanks
  2. HI Hubbers, As some of you might've noticed I put out a Wanted ad for a specific indoor trainer. I was contacted by a person who calls themselves Hans Hatting via SMS telling me he has one for sale. Long story short, I made use of a very kind Hubber to check out the goods for me but we were stood up. What made this very peculiar is that he didn't demand money up front like your typical scammer, he just kept quiet and I haven't heard from him since.
  3. This last weekend, www.bicyclegear.co.za were fortunate to spend some time out near Bonnievale at the Drecaso Chalets and Conference. The area has quiet district roads as well as a plethora of designated mountain bike trails throughout the valley. The chalets are an ideal place to use as a base to explore and train. We rode a 92km loop from the chalets to McGregor. Then up the Bosmanskloof Pass and back along another route. We climbed in total, 1200 metres over 92km's. When we reached the top of the Bosmanskloof Pass, we could clearly see the road wind up the Galgeberg to the antenna on top. Has anyone ridden up to the mast? I have looked on "Strava Heatmaps" and clearly see the route has been lit up. We would love to hear how the experience was and to see some photos.
  4. Hi, I will be visiting Robertson and Paarl next week for work, I want to do a few rides in the area while I am there. What suggestions do you have for awesome mtb trails in the area? Thanks!
