  1. Hey everyone, I have some questions in regards to the Tacx Fortius/iMagic and it's respective software- the TTS software. Anyways, long story probably not shorter (and messy. Sorry about that): Context: A friend of mine gave me her Tacx Flow trainer to use for a while since she's not training at the moment and I've yet to get my hands on a trainer. The setup is asfollows: It's a Tacx Flow trainer with the steerer and Fortius upgrade (head unit and so on). Tacx also did that great thing where they discontinued and completely locked the TTS software as of the start of the month. So there's no way to activate the VR software on a new PC. We also do not have access to the old laptop. The steerer was an awesome concept (I know there's a wireless one out now), but if I understand correctly, then that whole Fortius setup needs the TTS software to work and can't just connect to the new Tacx since it's only bluetooth and ANT+ compatible and the Fortius setup is connected via USB cable. The question: Is there some way that someone can maybe help me get a working copy of the TTS3/TTS4 software so that I can maybe get the whole setup up and running again? The TTS4 software can still be downloaded from the Tacx website, but upon installation, it asks for an activation code. And since the software is locked- no codes work anymore. I've emailed support to ask if there is a workaround for existing users, but their reply was just that the software is locked completely so they can't access it/send new codes or anything of the sort. The moment your PC breaks or something like that, then no more software. I think that was a really idiotic move for Tacx. Not everyone with old gear can afford the new fun stuff. The least they could have done is keep the software unlocked for existing users, even if laptops are switched. My theory is that maybe if I can get my hands on a copy that is still "activated" and maybe get it booted on an old laptop without having to install it from scratch, that I might be able to 'bypass' the lock and actually use the trainer with steerer it was intended. So, any chance that someone has any ideas? And old lappy with the software already loaded that they're not using anymore? Or am I wasting my time?
  2. Hi, Advice please. Anyone know who can help service my Tacx smart trainer. No help from Garmin SA. Thanks Dean
  3. Hi everyone I have a tacx satori trainer that doesn't want to switch on. It's been standing for about 2 months and now when I want to use it, it won't go on. I changed batteries, and still nothing. Has anyone else experienced something like this? Chris Willemse said I can bring it to them to have it checked out, but before I go there, I want to see if I can fix it myself (hopefully it's something small). Thanks!
  4. Hi, Does anyone know where I can have a Tacx indoor trainer serviced? I'm unable to correctly calibrate the trainer - no matter how tight I set the roller against the tyre, it still says it's too loose, and it severely under-reads power (it's a Bushido Smart wheel-on). It seems since Garmin bought Tacx in Feb, no-one is (officially) supporting the Tacx trainers in SA... ???? Thanks
  5. Hi, Having trouble with a broken Tacx Flux. Bought secondhand on bikehub, and it broke 5 rides in. No use crying over spilt milk. Would like to get it fixed now. The problem is: - red/green light flickers (no power?? belt issue???) - orange light flickers, do an update, returns to red/green issue - connects to phone and shows, but no power, no calibration (no data transfer??) - also no connectivity to macbook for zwifting purposes. I already emailed garmin, who seems to be Tacx agents in SA, but to no avail. Does anyone have any ideas or advice on the way forward, other than to just buy a Kickr
  6. Is there anyway I can fit my 29” mtb on my Genius Trainer? Any help will be greatly appreciated.
  7. Get ready to RUMBLE! We know you are tired of riding shoulder to shoulder with Aussies and Kiwis - that is why starting this Wednesday 19:35, its time for you South African Zwifters (Zaffas) to come out fighting! Wednesday night kicks off our “Fight Night” on Zwift, a 1- 1 ½ hour race (dependent on the course) specifically for us South Africans. Yes, we are going to have to let in a couple of Aussies, Kiwis and any nationality that doesn’t understand the difference between now, just now and now now……but we really want that screen filled with South African flags! How? I’ll get to that now now. Our Chief Torturers from our national PainCave.co.za clubs will join you in this race series and ensure there is at least some pain. The PainCave “Fight Night” race runs for 25 weeks with your best 10 races counting towards final standings and possibly even some great prizes courtesy of BuyCycle.co.za and paincave.co.za The format of the race series will be based on age and not watts/kg. If you don’t have access to a smart trainer at home, head off to www.paincave.co.za and book a slot at any of our studios for the Wednesday night “Fight Night” – there will be a couple of FREE slots available at each studio (first come first served……chat to them now!) https://zwift.com/events/view/64197 We will be adding more details over the next couple of days and weeks….so keep on heading back to check the latest news. This is a series organised and run by Zaffas for all you Saffas! NOTE: While Zwift is sorting out European GDPR regulations for Zwiftpower.com we will not be able to display a leaderboard. We are however confident that this will sorted out soon. So no prizes until this is sorted out, only bragging rights. Be quirky, be fun, be lekker. Enjoy the race!
  8. Good afternoon folks! Hope you're all having a great Sunday. Had this Tacx indoor tyre since mid-December 2018. Then after my session on Thursday evening I noticed a very small bubble forming in the tyre. This after I took the tyre off hoping the tube underneath was bust. Turns out the tube was flawless, and my tyre is de-lamitating. This is my second Tacx tyre. Has this happened to other Tacx tyre users before? Is there a better tyre on the market? Do these new tyres come with a warranty? I usually run it between 7-8 bar on a Tacx Genius Smart trainer, doing TR workouts at night.
  9. Hi all, As the title suggests, I'm thinking about getting a smart trainer. We have a great little gym at our apartment building, but some chop keeps breaking the training bikes and I can't get decent training sessions in... From my limited research, the best entry-level options seem to be Tacx Satori or Flow smart trainers. Could anyone share some insight on the other pieces of the puzzle I'm not considering and their general experience with a cheaper smart trainer? I'm worried that "goedkoop koop is duurkoop" will come back to haunt me.
  10. Good afternoon i would like some advice regarding Indoor trainers and the Various apps that are on the market . i have a Tacx smart neo running the Rouvy app . my wife and I both use the trainer but now i was wondering is there another way that i could purchase another trainer and we could then ride together using the same app ? Woul i be able to get a less expensive trainer and say ride on a mobile phone using the app and she would ride on the neo and we ride together ? what would be a decent trainer that wont cost too much that could do this ? Thanks
  11. Hi hubbers I have a Tacx Vortex Smart that I haven't used in quite a while. I've decided to start doing more indoor training as I won't be able to get out to ride that often going forward due to (positive) changes in my life. Anyway, I hooked it up, hopped on to try Rouvy and no readings are being received. Odd, I thought it was the Bluetooth protocol so switched across to Ant+. Still zero readings. I can see the Vortex is connected so it's not a pairing issue. Also tried Grant Road Tours. Nada. I then tried the Tacx Utility app. It connects and again zero readings. Anybody know if there's a quick fix for this? I'm hoping it's not a fried pcb or that I have to send it in.
  12. Morning all, To those who use the Tacx Utility app, have you noticed that the Calibration option has been removed with the latest update? Comments in the Play Store about this c0ckup are plentiful. How do I calibrate my trainer now? I do calibrate the trainer in TR after a 10 minute warmup, but experience proves that the trainer must be calibrated in the Utility app after a warmup.
  13. Good evening folks, Even though spring is upon us, I'm not in too much of a hurry to put my IDT away. I've grown more concerned about the sheer amount of noise my specific Genius Smart trainer generates. I've read on a few forums now about the "Superglue" and "Epoxy Fix". Simply put, the Superglue fix requires one placing small dots of said glue on the 12 "tractor holes" (like you get on dot-matrix printer paper) you find on the metal sleeve on the roller and leaving to dry. The epoxy fix requires one to drill these holes out completely (the roller is made from PU) with a 4mm bit, and refill the holes with epoxy resin, clean thoroughly and leave to dry for 24 hours. All these fixes claim a significant reduction in noise. Any Tacx users out there who has tried either of these two methods with success? Thanks!
  14. Good morning to all Hubbers, It's Friday, yay! To those of you who are familiar with TrainerRoad and the Ebbetts workout, it requires a 5 second sprint at about 150% FTP at set times as the workout progresses. So yesterday while I was busy with my workout, I got to the the first 5s interval, and my Eskom power trips! When I went to be DB I noticed my mains switch had not tripped, but the mains of the prepaid meter had! Flicked the switch back on with no issue but did not attempt the workout again. It did however say on the little display "earth unsafe". Does anyone have the first clue as to why this might be? The trainer runs on it's own dedicated socket in the wall, nothing else (in that room) was on at the time
  15. Good morning i would like to know if there is anyone that can help me with this issue . I purchased a tacx neo a few weeks back and am using the TTS4 software . I was told and read about the "roadfeel" of the trainer which sounded quite nice to experience so i contacted Tacx nertherlands via their website and asked how one turns this on . i was told to download the tacx utilities app and use this to turn the feature on or off . they also said i should update the trainer firmware. whilst the update was running it stopped and rebooted saying that it had failed now the trainer wont read the TTS 4 software that i was using . Coolheat the importers say i should contact Tacx as they cant assist me . CWC where i purchased the trainer said they would call me back . tacx netherlands have still not contacted me . does anyone have any solutions for me or have experienced this . thanks
  16. Good morning Hubland, This is a very particular query I have, but humour me. I started training with power in approx January 2017 in preparation for the then LeTape Tour. I continued training with power using a Wattbike in my (then) local VA. The crowded atmosphere in the VA detracted me so I decided to go the smart trainer route. Having now used the smart trainer for some weeks I can categorically say that the Wattbike and (this particular) smart trainer are not the same. The most simple away to distinguish between the two is my RPE. Put even simpler - it feels easier to do a certain wattage on my smart trainer than it did on the Wattbike. My HR is an indication of that too. I am aware HR has a lot of variables including temperature, how well you slept, how well you ate, how hydrated you remain etc. etc. I only used the "fan" setting on the Wattbike, only the magnet on the rare occasion when I had to go 350W+ for LOW cadence. Is it at all fair to compare the two? Should I just discount all my training I did on the Wattbike (in excess of 2500km)? Am I actually doing myself a disservice by using a smart trainer? Just to answer some questions I know will appear - I never (re)calibrated the Wattbike for each session (no clue how that was even done) I hardly ever used the exact same Wattbike due to space issues at the VA I always calibrate before my ride on my IDT I use the same bike each time (on the IDT) with about 7 bar pressure I calibrate using the Tacx Utility App and TrainerRoad Thanks for reading!
  17. Hi all, Firstly, sorry for all the questions below (it is excessive - I know ) So after doing some research on the net, I'm more confused than ever and hoping that someone here can give me a simple guide to get my gear connected to work with my smart trainer. Once my Tacx Flux arrives from CT, I want to connect it up to work with Zwift, my Garmin Edge 520 bundle & iPhone or Laptop (with Bluetooth) if possible. I would assume that the Garmin Cadence and Speed Sensors are not necessary as the trainer will give this info? From what I've read, the Garmin won't work as a bridge to bring everything together so to get the Garmin HR monitor to work, I'd need to get an ANT+ USB dongle and use my Laptop to run Zwift - is this correct? Is it also correct to assume that you can either use the Garmin with the trainer or Zwift but not both? I also have a Wahoo Tickr HR monitor, would this work with my iPhone, Zwift and the trainer? (this to me seems like the easiest setup via Bluetooth) If anyone has any other suggestions or tips, I'd really appreciate it - I'm a complete newbie
  18. Good Morning I have just purchased a neo smart trainer is there anyone who can assist me with how to turn on the road feel setting . i would also like to know what other users are using for their training with regards software ect ect . I have heard alot about Zwift and sufferest and have looked at the taxc app that comes with a subscription . please could someone give me advice . the communication to tacx in denmark is very slow and they take a day before they answer. many thanks
  19. Hi, Picked up a few years old Tacx Flow from a family member. I did not get the data cable that links the computer and the trainer. From what I understand this is a 6 pin straight wired Ethernet cable. Does anyone know if this is in fact true? Just want to find out if I can pick up a cable from a PC shop or if it is something that I need to get from Tacx directly.
  20. HI Hubbers, As some of you might've noticed I put out a Wanted ad for a specific indoor trainer. I was contacted by a person who calls themselves Hans Hatting via SMS telling me he has one for sale. Long story short, I made use of a very kind Hubber to check out the goods for me but we were stood up. What made this very peculiar is that he didn't demand money up front like your typical scammer, he just kept quiet and I haven't heard from him since.
  21. Does anyone know where I can find Tacx Flux accessories in SA? Been scouring the internet for a 142 x 12 thru axle adapter, part number T2835 but can only find it on websites abroad, shown in attached picture.
  22. The combination of cold winter mornings and live coverage of the Tour de France makes training indoors the go-to for many cyclists and triathletes alike. Not only can you leave the thermals and toe caps off, but your indoor session can be just as effective (in certain cases, more effective), than training outdoors. There are a huge variety of training apps and aids out on the market, all designed to make your training easier, keep you entertained and make you want to train indoors. Although we are spoilt for choice with all the aids out on the marketing, let’s face it; training indoors isn’t nearly as exciting as getting out there. We know all the tricks in the book; from racing other cyclists online right through to watching the Tour in hope that it will inspire you to push through the next interval set. Although indoor training is mentally tough, there is one key factor that can change it for you. Music. The beat that drives your legs forward, the lyrics that transport you from the confines of four walls, the emotions that come from a few minutes of beautiful noise. Listening to music while you’re training can help your fatigue, boost your mood and helps you feel less pain. Choosing the right type of music for your training is what stands between you and the finish line. We want to know what your top three songs are for training indoors! Every week for the course of three weeks, we will award a pair of CycleOps socks to the best liked song list. At the end of the three weeks, we will award a CycleOps Winter Training Package to the overall top liked list. Turn up the music, close your eyes and let the beat take over. Submissions should be made in the following format, Artist, Song and Album (if known). The winner for each week will be announced every Monday (10th, 17th & 24th July 2017) with the grand price being announced on Tuesday the 25th July 2017
  23. Hi Guys Need some input on my indoor trainer set up. Being eyeing all the activity on Zwift activities etc and would like to enhance my current training experience if possible.. I currently have a Tacx Flow trainer which has served me well for a good few years now. It's paired with a Powertap so I am able to perform structured work outs with ease - via my Garmin. I generally just use the resistance settings of the trainer and my gearing to get into the required power zone. Is it at all possible to get a zwift / trainer road set up? I have being toying with the idea of getting a smart trainer but obviously feel that it might be overkill considering I already have the power meter? What would my options be? A cheaper smart trainer perhaps?
  24. Hello All So since about 2 weeks ago I am having trouble with my Trainerroad and Tacx Vortex Smart trainer. Nothing has changed in terms of hardware etc. I do use an extension cable for my Ant+ dongle on my laptop as well. So the problem is: When you load the program all is well and the trainer can be calibrated etc. When the intervals start and the trainers adjusts the resistance, in order to push you towards target power, upward everything works fine. When the interval is over however, the brake does not release again back to the lower target power. It only happens around 20min into the program and before that the brake upward and downward adjustment works perfectly. I have not upgraded any firmware on the brake (other than when I bought it) so it cannot be that. My only guess could be that the Trainerroad software update has a bug? Tacx said they have had a few queries about Trainerroad brake issues over the last few days but they couldn't give further info Has anyone experienced this and possibly have a fix... It terrible to just get into it and then experiencing issues Thanks in advance
  25. Hi all, So I got given (indefinitely ) my brother in law's virtually brand new TACX Flow indoor trainer which I'd like to use with my MTB. He also has a MTB so he purchased the 28 inch wheel which is needed and it worked perfectly for him. When I tried to hook it up, I realised that it dosen't fit as it was causing the brake disc to touch my bike's frame when I tightened up the quick release. My LBS said that it won't work as my bike has the following: Roval Control SL 29 142+, DT Swiss Star Ratchet, XX1 driver body, 12mm thru-axle, 28h and that I would need to buy a new hub and have it put into the trainer wheel. This is what the trainer has:http://i446.photobucket.com/albums/qq183/marlin178/tacx_zpsrycxqlbd.jpg and what my bike has: http://i446.photobucket.com/albums/qq183/marlin178/DT_Swiss_12_x_142mm_Rear_Qr_zpsuf3wdwf3.jpg Question is: Do I need to get a whole new hub or is there a conversion kit of sorts available? I saw these on CWC- would they perhaps work? (Thru-axle adapter for x12mm (rear wheel) with cylindrical support for fixing the MTB´s with Taxc trainers) http://i446.photobucket.com/albums/qq183/marlin178/P-TRAINER%20ACCESSORIES-TRAIAC-TACX-T1709-----_1_zps14wd9hjy.jpg Link: http://www.cwcycles.co.za/product/tacx-trainer-adapter-x-12-axle Any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated! Thanks in advance!
