  2. Hi Everyone A couple of points and questions . Those of you that follow new shimano di2 development , will know that there is a wireless transmitter to show what gear you are in and your battery percentage on your garmin available to plug into your existing di2 integral or dura ace , and a remote steering fitted shifter that fits onto your handlebars for easy shifting . My question is why are these components not available in South Africa ? I have asked numerous cycle shops to order them but all of their responses are either shimano SA have no clue what I'm talking about or the most common answer is there is no worldwide stock available . Bear in mind I have been trying to order since the launch of these products in 2014 , so no stock available is a nonsense answer , and on speaking to many bike shops , they all say that Shimano SA importers only bring in what they think will sell and will not take special orders . Anyone care to shed some light on this ? Yes i know one can order from the UK or US , but why should we not be able to order legit Shimano components in our own country . Thanks Richard

  4. My brother and his family live in Vic Falls and I'm trying to get them into cycling. What a great place to cycle! A little hot, but spectacular!!!!!! Are there any Zim Hubbers? Anyone have any idea about bike shops in Zim? Are there any? Are there any good bike shops in Bots? Kasani?
  5. I'm on the East Rand and have been alternating between taking my mountain bike to Johnson Cycle Works, Ridgeway Cycles and Boksburg Cycle Lab for servicing and repairs. I'm relatively new to biking and have relied on what I hoped would be professional advice and service from these shops, but they've often fallen woefully short of expectations - I won't bore you with the details but it variously involves failing to meet deadlines, not returning phone calls, giving bad advice on what components to buy, etc. Can anyone point me to a cycle shop I can trust for good service and advice, and not someone who's just interested in selling me what they happen to have in stock at the time? I don't mind travelling further afield.
  6. I've been riding for going on 8 yrs right now. I've serviced my bike at many different shops, but most recently I've been using Linden Cycles. Their services have always been great and I can't really complain. Normally when I query things, they are happy to fix it without question and the quality of their workmanship has been fine. They are however a bit out of the way for me AND with them being SO popular, you sometimes need to book like 14 days in advance. This is a bit of a problem if you just quickly want some running repairs done. I then decided to try a shop up the road from me - CycloWorx (Petervale Shopping centre). I was pretty surprised with their approach and it goes a little something like this (sounds I need a soundtrack here): - They don't have a flat rate for a service, they simply charge you PER ITEM that they do. - They also don't carry out ANY WORK until you've given them the go ahead on each item. - They FIRST quote and await your approval. This approach is pretty cool as I have in the past been in a situation where a 500 service turns into a 2000 service, granted we do discuss it, but I don't get a line by line quote before work is completed. I get a brief phone call where I need to make a call there and then without being able to digest it. In any event, I'm picking up the bike today and doing a training ride this arvy. Will reply to this post with how the bike is going (hope it doesn't fall apart, rofl).
