  2. So this was on a FB MTB page... Admittedly a while back now. I can't believe I'm the only one who sees this as suspicious - there were a few guys who did start questioning but initially loads were happy to buy the tires. The gent in question did answer our queries and he seems legit enough but I'm not sure about the source - even tho he said he gets checked by the cops often....
  3. Hey bikehubbers I saw this Ad on fb market place and it's way too dodgy! So I'm positing it here hoping someone might find their stolen bike
  4. We had a Hightower CC stolen over the weekend. Chances of recovering it is Zero, Nada, Null, Niks, F@$@l. what happens to these bikes? And the Insurance has “Loss adjusters” whose job it is to get out of a claim - no hope there either. The thieves know what to take because they know what they’re worth. I also suspect they don’t disappear into suspect areas to be used as transport. Has anyone had any luck in getting their stolen bikes back?
  5. I advertised my bicycle on Facebook Gauteng Marketplace, received a call and bank deposit proof of payment - which was fraudulent as the money was never deposited into my account. A driver was sent to collect the bicycle - I took a photo of the registration - FS 84 XB GP. I was phoned by the driver and the owner of the vehicle (so they claimed) with jpeg files and was told that they will bring the bicycle back if I pay the delivery fee - they claimed have kept the bicycle because the person who requested the delivery never paid them. I informed them that I will only pay the delivery fee if they bring back the bicycle with an invoice. They then claimed they got an affidavit to pawn the bicycle. Needless to say this was an elaborate scam. Person by the name of Isaac Tigelo used various telephone numbers: 078 999 4538, 078 746-8219, 060 570-7094, 078 872-3400. I suspect "Isaac's" real name is Ntandazo Silekwa - I received a message via Messenger saying he wants to buy the bike for his son and this profile was deleted later. Other telephone numbers of the "drivers" goes by the names of James (063 321 - 2970) and his "boss" Peter (078 829-1387) and 078 166-6277. Please be careful and do not make the same mistakes I did. The only proof I have is the photo of the licence plate I took when the "driver" collected the bicycle.

  10. Hi guys, forgive me if I'm posting on the wrong forum....The Hub has become quite bewildering.....So my missus needs to stop off at the local chemist this afternoon. I notice that parked outside the adjoining cafe is a beautiful Cannondale, Dura-Ace shifters, beautiful DT Swiss wheels....really kitted out and but seriously blinged with a great big padlock on the saddle rails ....I asked the 'owner', dressed in a very well used blue overall and gumboots, where he bought such a beautiful machine. He laughs and tells me that it belongs to his boss who lets him use it daily.......SERIOUSLY!!!!! I'm not convinced...........(Roodekrans, Roodepoort)
  11. Hi All, It might be something or it may be nothing at all, but today while traveling on the N2 inbound from Gordon's Bay side towards Cape Town. I saw a white polo, with what looked like a lot of anti Rhino poaching signage, travelling into Nomzamo. What triggered my alarm was that there were two bikes on the bike carrier the were basically dragging on the ground as if it hadn't been locked properly and the drivers looked like they were unconcerned and in no hurry to stop. They turned right at the robot after the BP on the N2 as you go through somerset business park, and then turned left into the township, shortly afterwards there was a police vehicle which looked like to was in hot pursuit of something, sirens blazing. I may be guilty here of stereotyping in the worst fashion, however if I had what looked like pretty expensive gear on the bike rack and it was pretty much falling off the back, I would be stopping as quickly as possible to correct and fix. Hope this helps someone, and doesn't get any wrath laid down on me.
  12. Hi Guys My bike fell of its bike rack on the way to Knysna yesterday. It fell off at near dassiesfontein, which is just before Caledon. A car waived me down shortly after it happened. I was back to the spot where is fell off within 5 minutes, in that time someone must have loaded the bike in their car and driven off. The bike is the very same one the crow sold me about a year ago, its quite a unique bike and have a feeling that whoever picked it up will try sell it. Pic attacked, only difference is that is now has a black seat Please spread the word Thanks
  13. Giant TCR COMPOSITE stolen in a house burglary on the early hours of Tuesday the 16 September 2014. It was stolen with Dura Ace wheels and a Polar Heart rate monitor it's a diamond shaped one.
  14. Hi guys, spotted this bike at Ballito Junction last night. Guy claims he bought it. Seemed like a decent enough chap, so could be true. Was a bit suspicious as he was in overalls, and his 'briefcase' was a plastic bag. Said he had a cool bike & asked if I could take a photo. All I could really see in the dark was that it was a Diamondback.........

Please can anyone riding or driving in the area keep a look out to see if the bike pops up some where. if we can catch the guys who took the bike it could lead to the recovery of his house equipment.
