Better Front Grip (replacement for crossmark ust 2.1)

Recommended Posts

I'm looking to replace my front ust tyre (maxxis crossmark 2.1 LUST),

I need more cornering grip in loose gravel, I have looked at maxxis high rollers but cant find them locally.

Would like advise on brand and model for locally available tyres.

Would prefer UST.

Thx

Maxxis Monorail. Capable, affordable, long lasting. I have two mates riding that combo and they have no complaints.

Have you tried shifting your body weight more forward when cornering? Does make a big difference.

That and get your forks setup properly for your weight/riding style.

caad I disagree the worst tire I have ever had for front grip was a monorail, its even worse than the crossmark and the crossmark is pretty damn bad.

If I currently run mountainking2' s in the front with an X-king at the back, which is a totally brilliant combination, The X-king has so much grip for a medium tread tire its unbeleivable, so i might try taking of the new Mountainking and putting a X-king in front as well.

If you can get your hands on a Maxxis Ignitor, you would be very happy.

Haven't seen them locally anywhere but use to get them from CRC.

Should try the MK2's when they hit our shores, even better than the MK's we all know and love.

Had same problem. The solution was twofold:

1) Make sure the front shock is setup properly - not too stiff and especially not too much rebound

2) Geax Baro Mountain 2.1 TNT for front tyre

Problem was solved.

Rocket Ron is working ok for me. Running the "normal" tyre as tubeless and no problems in about 800km.
