chris_w_65 Posted June 17, 2011 Share When I go for very long rides - 150km plus I get a pain in my feet, I notice the pain seems to be towards my toes. Do you think I should try move my cleats back slightly? I have a lot of adjustment free in that direction. Should I move the cleat back by say 2mm at a time for testing? Zula Posted June 17, 2011 Share Try loosen the front straps of your shoes. I used to get bad pins and needles until I did that. The first 2 straps should just be closed, no tension. the top strap should be nice and vas.
Groadie Posted June 17, 2011 Share I had the same problem. Hot feet is normally caused by the metatarsal bones being too cramped. I also have high arches and my actual shoes needed to be changed. The wider shoe helped me greatly i.e. no more hot feet! So I would first check that you have enough space - that your foot isn't being squashed into the shoe (cuts the bloodflow - it can even cause temporary discolouring of your foot and your toes can feel like ice after a long ride!). I had to go to a specialist who assessed my feet fit in the shoe. But it can be fixed.
chris_w_65 Posted June 17, 2011 Share My feet are pretty comfortable in the shoes, not tight at all and they are well worn in. I don't tighten the lower straps much. In fact the lowest one doesn't get adjusted at all for removing/fitting the shoes. I thought the fact that my cleats are pretty far forward on their adjustment and that the pain seems to be slightly forward of the ball of my feet may indicate the cleats are too far forward. I will adjust them back to try it out but it is not too often I do 150km +
shova1 Posted June 17, 2011 Share I'm sure there is a perfectly legitimate technical solution to this problem, but being a Friday afternoon after a rather trying week, I'll proffer you restrict rides to under 150km!

Mugello Posted June 17, 2011 Share Same symtoms cured by switching to Specialised shoe (broader) with the Green insole for high arched feet. Never had an issue again. Even just buy the specialised insole into any shoe, should work if you are not cramped.
