Men's Saddle Choices

Ok I know a saddle is very personal and person specific choice, but I need some help please. I'm a not a skinny Andy Schleck build (rather 1.90m and 95kg). I'm currently riding a Gobi XM and the thing is killing me. I'm currently looking at:

1. Selle Italia SLR Gel Flow;

2. Selle Italia Max Flite Gel Flow;

3. Selle Italia Yutaak Gel Flow.

Any experiences or recommendations with the above; or any alternative recommendations.

I had a Yutaak, was comfortable but within 6 months the plastic broke right through just in front of where the rails insert at the back of the saddle. Only the upholstery kept it together. Expensive loss. Now riding a Gobi.

I found myself in a very simila situation like you. I'm a cm taller but the one or other kg lighter, however the Gobi was also not the best for me. Tried a variety of saddlye on my road bike and now have the SLR Gel Flow fixed on the MTB and road bike. It's much better. Still not perfect for me tho.

Have you tried a Planet-X saddle? Same basic look as an Arione, but different geometry, but believe me it works a charm.

PM Kiwi, he sells them

I have tried the Gobi's, the Selle's etc etc. This is the best saddle i have ever come across. I Have been using it for 2 years now. Can sit on it for hours. I also have 4 friends that have changed over to this one.

WTB Rocket V SLT Saddle

The chances are that if the Gobi also did not suit you, then this will work for you.

The Rocket V is WTB’s most popular high-performance saddle both on the road and in the dirt.

The uniquely contoured pad shape helps increase power output by properly angling the sit bones.

This is the saddle of choice for DH World Champ Steve Peat of the Santa Cruz Syndicate team.

Love Channel™:

Found on all WTB saddles, the Love Channel has one very important task: protect your body from unwanted pressures. Unlike other more radical approaches, this central depression provides soft-tissue relief without sacrificing the design integrity of the saddle.

DNA Padding:

Found on our high-end models, this lightweight padding dramatically reduces the weight of the saddle.

It is denser and has better memory properties allowing it to form to the contours of your active cyclist body.

• Usage - Mountain and Road.

• Size - 127mm x 258mm

• Rail - Titanium

• Weight - 215g

• Details - Leather cover, Flex-Tuned shell, Comfort Zone, Kevlar corners, DNA padding

Tumbleweed, after 2 hr's it feels like I'm sitting on a brick, and my legs feel numb.

You sure it's not a set-up problem?

Go for the Selle Italia Max flite, the one with the cut out. I am same height and weight as you. The local Spez agents dont bring in the 150mm BG width saddle. Get a Selle Italia Max from CRC for R800.00

Yes, could be. My setup was done by my LBS. We don't have a specialist setup option or center in town.

Why not chuck Spez into the mix

I know some of the dealers allow you to test the range until you find one you like...worked for me(Phenom 143)

ditto re the specialised - I used a test saddle based on the sit bones measurement and now have the phenom 155 - no more issues
