Shimano Product Range

awesme

Recommended Posts

Hi guys

Been looking at the Shimano site and can't really figure out their product hierarchy per product range.

IF this XT is better than this one but lower spec than that one etc etc.

Is there anything like this? (IE the Merida bikes is easy, for every range the higher the number the better the spec of the bike)

I feel that SLX is the perfect compromise. It is accurate, light and very reliable!

XTR looks bling but it is very expensive.

Where does Deore fit in?

Seen it mentioned alone and with XT products.

Just trying to figure out how their product ranges work and how the web site is layed out, not very easy, IE no listing I can easily find for:Shimano M435 centerlock.

They can def get someone to do some work on the site.

Alivio and Deore are entry level.

Try and get SLX components.

this question has been asked a few times now... and you guys always forget about the most awesome Shimano range in production (maybe cos the local agents don't bring it in)...

Saint!

EDIT; gummibear remembered Saint

so... here it is according to the product range number series (descending order)

XTR - M900 Series - light and fancy-pants

SAINT - M800 Series - Rugged, hardcore and for the gravity scene

XT - M700 Series - for those wanting racing components without selling organs

SLX - M600 Series - Robust, workhorse. Very underated

DEORE - M500 Series - Used to be entry level 9sp, but Alivio is now doing that

ALIVIO - M400 Series - Used to be the 7 & 8sp stuff. Now expanded to 9sp and put on entry level bikes

ACERA - M300 Series - Game bike stuff
