Hi Guys, i just wanted to know , if my chain broke after a few years of riding is it a "must" to replace the casette also or does it depend on any factor and if so what ? My chain is about 4 years old and did about 20 000km's. If i look at it all seems fine exept the chain that snapped. Regards

Yes more than likely if you haven't been monitoring chain wear, the worn chain will damage the cassette since the pitch changes and wears the teeth unevenly. And check/replace the chain rings on your crank as well.

i think you are going to have to replace both.

i snapped a chain a while ago. i was staying in town close to the mountain and

i was cruizing around on my old piece of crap, and there was this little hill, and i mashed the gears up the hill, chain snapped at the worst possible moment, crushed my nuts on the top tube......stood there in agony on the side of a busy road feeling my nuts for blood....funny memory.....i hated that bike and it hated me.
