grant10 Posted July 20, 2011 Share Hi fellas, I run dailycrank.net and looking for inspirations for an article on the toughest road climbs in Cape Town and the Western Cape. Any thoughts? I've got: Kloof NekOu Kaapse WegChapppiesSuikerbossieConstantia Nek (from Constantia)Constantia Nek (from Hout Bay) Are there any other climbs further outside of Cape Town, but ideally still in the Western Cape? Cheers!Grant www.dailycrank.net - Pedal Like You Mean It™
andydude Posted July 20, 2011 Share Go work out the longest and steepest - that should be the toughest! Use mapmyride. But on the other hand, a smallish Suikerbossie can be tough if you race it at 30km/h whereas a longer Chappies can be ok if you do it 20km/h. TNT1 Posted July 20, 2011 Share Red Hill doesn't make your list? From the simonstown side? kevinrb
andydude Posted July 20, 2011 Share And maybe you want to include real climbs/passes; e.g. du Toit's Kloof in Paarl, Bainskloof in Wellington. You can even throw in Taalmonument in Paarl. And Franschoek pass? Your missing all the good ones and all less than 100km from Cape Town. kevinrb

Tankman Posted July 20, 2011 Share Some more accurate data is probably what you need:(do you need longest, shortest, steepest or what?) In my backyard ... to the Steenbras waterworks from Gordonsbay ... short but steep: Franschoek pass: Ou Kaaps from Steenberg side: Ou Kaaps from Noordhoek side: MDJ
