Morwa Posted August 5, 2011 Share I've been struggling with a painful Achilles tendon in my right leg for the past two months now. Does anybody have any solution or possible remedy that might help. I'm seeing a physio at this stage....it's getting better, but it doesn't want to go away. The physio suggested to quit cycling and running for 12 weeks! There must be an alternative. I've been fitted by a professional “bike fitter”, so set-up is definitely not the issue.
Mojoman Posted August 5, 2011 Share Prehaps rest is what it needs? Sometimes things dont come right till you have a good long break.
Guest agteros Posted August 5, 2011 Share Is it the actual tendon in the heel, or the muscles in your lower leg attached to the tendon? Can give some VERY painful solutions for the latter...
Morwa Posted August 5, 2011 Share The pain....and a lump/knot in my tendon is about 1cm a above my ankle bone, if you draw a straight line from the ankle bone to the back of the leg. It definitely not the heel or the muscle. Maybe rest is what is needed.
wannabearacer Posted August 8, 2011 Share Sounds like tendonosis. Did it start over time or did it suddenly get painful.
Eugene Posted August 10, 2011 Share Listen to your physio, he/she is the expert, not the Hub
Wile E. Posted August 10, 2011 Share If it hasn't cleared up yet it may be a biomechanical issue. Your physio should be able to deal with pain etc but should then refer you on to a Biokineticist for exercise rehab. They can find an alternative for you in terms of exercise and keeping your training up. PM me if you want details of some Bios in your area... Tieffels Posted August 10, 2011 Share Also had a niggling Achilles tendon that I think I strained while going on an impulsive balls to the wall run. Was about 2/3 months of nursing before it went away. Still felt it now and again on hard rides, eventually dropped my seatpost a bit that made a big difference. No problems since.. Morwa Posted August 11, 2011 Share TX for all the comments. I went to my GP...tendonosis/tendonitis, can't remember. Was refered to a physio. On rehab as we speak....and dying to get on the road for a proper training ride. The physio also commented that my hip flexors could be weak on one side....thus the problem on the one leg. So I'm busy with excercises to strengthen my hip flexors. I've also came across Prolotherapy. Any comments on this treatment for tendons?
