wynandvdmerwe Posted September 15, 2011 Share I had a set of SLR's on a Merida 96, very strong and stiff wheelset. Sold my Merida, and I put the SLR's on my wife's bike, best 26er wheelset out there I believe, but that is just my opinion
Robrider Posted September 15, 2011 Share I have only tried the xtrs, and they are very good wheels. Bear in mind both of those wheels sets have expensive (non-standard) spokes, and yes I have broken quite a few. From an everyday perspective I suspect the Mavics might be better as they have a cartridge bearing. The xtr have a cup and cone bearing, which needs to be serviced more often. So I think the Mavics would need less maintenance. I'm not an expert though
banna Posted September 15, 2011 Share Mavic's are great wheels. Have done Epic, Atta, Hell and Back etc on them and no issues. Just need to service the rear hub every 3 months or so, but otherwise bullet proof.
