This is the Breezer 1 ... Joe Breeze's first MTB specific bike ... it was restored and is being shown at Interbike in the USA this week!

 

Classic piece of machinery ... can you see some of your MTB in it???

Actually, this was the first "recreational/sport" Mtbike. THe first offroad bikes were military bicycles that were used during the Anglo boer war (second application of bicycles in war), world war I and every war thereafter. Dispatch riders rode on gravel roads, but Danie Theron also expected his riders to do a bike of cross country all mountain riding were every required. He "invented" the first tyre liner as well.

 

The Americans were the first to make "sport" out of it.
