Entry level Road pedals

Hey all

Searched but found nothing so asking here.

Looking to buy my first pair of proper road pedals as I train quite a bit on the road bike and got some nice road shoes on the hub.

Looked at the brands but don't know enough, the Shimano 105 in black looks like a winner as it matches the Felt's colours and group, is under R600 and is metal.

I'm worried about the longevity of the composite pedals.

Also I need something with generous float as I'm used to eggbeaters and also have hurt my right knee before, is the float on the 105 enough ?

I see one can get different cleats for that. Standard float on the 105 is 6 degrees like with the eggies ?

I'm now running CB Quotro cleats on my road shoes with candy pedals but they tend to slip when trying to clip in so I want to get a proper setup.

The slipping is going to cause a crash or something one day and besides if I'm gonna ride a road bike I might as well look the part :P

Thanks

WW.
