nuge Posted October 10, 2011 Share Bit of background: We were in a two-man break off the front of the A-E group yesterday with about 30km to go. After figuring we had a good shot at riding all the way to the finish (bunch didn't appear to be chasing), he admitted that his legs were shot and that if he could take a smaller share of the work he wouldn't contest the finish. Anyway, true to his word he sat behind me as we rode over the mats ahead of the group. Nice riding with you, man! Kudos also to Brothers Sport for picking sportsmen of integrity to represent their brand.

Tiny K Posted October 10, 2011 Share Well done to both of you! I didn't ride the race to race it.... if you get what I mean. I was playing domestique for a training buddy. If I did race it, it would have been lekker to have sat in your 2 man group. I worked my butt off trying to get momentum in the F/G bunch but it just wasn't happening. It didn't help either that a D rider pulled the H bunch right up into the F/G lot between Hermon and Riebeeck Kasteel.

That D bunch guy was'nt the only one working at the front. Although it did'nt help me much, I was paste by the time we caught you guys, and with the first acceleration of the bunch I got spat out the back. Just glad that SPAT managed to stick with you guys for the rest of the race.

Won't deny that - I was miffed that you guys caught us! re Spat - well he almost did get spat out the back along the last 30km bit, but he kept his cool and finished strong. I on the other hand paid for my hard labour with both hammies pulling up half way on the downhill and I coasted into the finish standing on my pedals. I also took serious strain over the last couple of kilometres. Almost bonked at the 90km mark (was out of liquid by then) Luckily I crawled to the downhill section and could freewheel home. The One Tonner is going to be interesting!! Spat was looking strong in our bunch. He should move up the seeding ladder fast.
