gears not changing

help me out here.. my gears on the rear cassette are not changing down to last last 2 small cogs? ive done nothing?

Sounds like you need to adjust the limit screws to allow for the proper range of motion.

 

No, there is some other cause/problem. The limit screw did not adjust itself :o

Got kids? Mates with a horrible sense of humour? Dirt lodged in the mechanism? A weak spring? Pull it off, fiddle around, see if anything's jamming. If not, then yes, it's probably the cable.

Adjust the cable tension before you strip anything. It is very sensitive (i.e. a quarter turn can be the difference between slick changes and jumping/hunting gears). How old is the setup?

setup is a about 800kms old.. and just recently been serviced.

ill try fiddle with screwss and cable and see what happens.

In my sceptical opinion - that's most likely the reason - if my general experiece of bike servicing is anything to go by. ;)
