I have had a Peace 9r for the past 2 odd years which I really enjoy.

Most parts I've changed/upgraded but it's still a great bike.

Have just ordered a new Carver EBB for it as the metal where the set screws grip on the original EBB have virtually worn away.

Cool, thanks Thug! I am quite excited about it actually and it looks like quite a nice bike to upgrade by choice or necessity. I am looking forward to trying out the single speed thing too.

I'm sure you'll enjoy it.

If you run tubeless, you rarely need more than 1.8bar pressure which does allow a bit of give and makes for a smoother ride.

One thing about a steel singlespeed with a rigid fork is that "give 'em a lickin and they keep on tickin" :D

I have ridden my GT SS more than 6000kms this year.

Costs so far:-

New rear hub - R2500 - as original hub was not up to mileage.

New rim - R800 - I do lots of pavement hopping

Rear Tyres - R800 (3 tyres bought)

Grips - R200

I have not serviced it or replaced chain, brake pads, sprocket or chainring.

Also check on the frame, as some of the older model peace's could not fit disk brakes on the rear!

But enjoy the SS side of things... welcome to the dark side

Hectic, that is allot of mileage, is that just from commuting? :o Right, at least I know that the bike will last me for many kilometers :)

howzit

yip that is my bright yellow gt peace 9er haha.

i've only just got my GT peace 9er but it is such a beauty. love the rigid fork. aready pushed the bike hard into some corners and have to say that if i had a sus fork i would have got to know terra firma a bit better. haha.

the bike is awesome, responsive and damn quick, kept up with some DH boys at reitvlie the other day no worries.

the only suggestions i can make are to:

1: Get a good Quality Chainring, something SS or BMX specific ( i got a Chromag 32t)

2: Get a Strong Chain. I recommend a half-link BMX chain. they Super strong and come in cool colours

3:If you going disc break run a 185mm rotor in front (dont know how heavey you are but i'm 95kg and the extra stopping power is nice to have)

other than that the bike is amazing the best value for money. I had a full carbon Specailized Stumpjumper with 2x10 Sram XO groupset full on race machine that i never touched once i got this baby.

All the best and look forward to seeing pics of your bike soon.
