Scott Spark Alloy vs Carboun

How much difference does it really make

Take each one for a test ride. The difference you feel will answer your question.

In my experience, your average fun-rider can't tell the difference between steel, ally, and carbon when riding.

What really is the difference in terms of riding etc between the alloy that you get in the scott spark 60 and the carboun like the you get in the spark 30?

How much difference does it really make and how durable is the carboun?

Specially on a dual-suss I think the difference will be allot less noticeable than a hardtail, if noticeable at all.

IMO you really need to shell out for a top of the line carbon bike to get any benefit over alloy, the Caad10 alu road bike is reviewed as being a much better bike than its basic carbon framed competitors which seems to be true looking at all the effort cannondale puts into RnD.

I have a GT carbon hardtail and except for some vibration damping alu would be allot cheaper, resist impact better and weighs the same. No real advantage, is still cool though to have a carbon bike

SOmething like the scott scale 899 now thats a different animal and shows what carbon can achieve over alu. If you have the $$$....

Jacques I would say maybe look at getting a bike one up from the 60, one tends to buy too basic and then want to upgrade quickly which costs allot when the bug really bites.

WW.

I agree with TNT. I don't think a well designed alu road bike will feel all that different from a carbon one. On a full-sus mtb I think the difference will be zero, at least till the suspension bottoms out after 100mm+ of travel. After that point, the subtle difference in feel between alu and carbon will probably not be so important.

The air in some fat knobblies and the suspension design and settings front and rear will completely dominate ride feel, as long as the frame has been well designed.

Go for the alu frame with better components and wheels, unless the couple of hundred grams extra will give you sleepless nights.

Carbon is baie sterker as wat jy dink.
