Generaal Gert Posted October 26, 2011 Share I recently bought a Raleigh RM X.O Carbon MTB, now i've heard that carbon frames aren't ideal for mountain biking? Is that really the case? I've just started to worry as I'm on the heavier side about 110kg. Should i consider getting an aluminum bike? Any opinions? Thanks
gummibear Posted October 26, 2011 Share Why are you asking when you are selling it? All the Pro's race on carbon so it must be pretty good.
Generaal Gert Posted October 26, 2011 Share well some of my friend didn't have anything good to say about the carbon frame. If I can get some piece of mind that I'm not to heavy for the frame the I'll rather not sell it.
gummibear Posted October 26, 2011 Share Nobody can/will tell you that carbon won't break...it can.So to can aluminium.Ride the bike and enjoy it and make sure your insurance is paid. Swop the frame for a alu one if you not happy.I did it a few years back.I was also around 110kg mark and wanted carbon but when i rode it i didn't like it.I swopped it for a Raleigh RC7000 frame with a fellow hubber and i was happy. Generaal Gert Posted October 26, 2011 Share I love the feel of the bike so i'm really happy with it. Any suggestions for insurance? (I'm still a student so i don't have tons of money for insurance...) Thanks for your opinion
