2wheelsgood Posted October 31, 2011 Share Anyone know where to find rearview mirrors locally? I've found several overseas sites that sell some nice-looking ones, but the shipping cost makes it a bit of a poor deal. I've realized that rearview mirrors are not a nice-to-have.. they're a must. Two things to try first. 1. Doppler effect.2. Turning your head.

Turning your head. 1) Doesn't work in heavy traffic2) means eyes are off the road for a few seconds - bad idea in heavy traffic, and I'd like to be able to know what's behind me in general, not just check when I'm about to do something. I'm in Gauteng btw.

Don't under estimate the power of your peripheral vision as well.

I don't understand why we don't use mirrors on bikes in this country.
Delgado Posted November 1, 2011 Share I do ...and don't give a toss at all the comments that get passed. Serfas make nice ones that strap onto the end of the handlebar drops!

I have used the mirrors on a motorbike (I sometimes wonder why they even botherred...) and I think they would work a lot better than those bar mounted commuter mirrors. In my car I turn my head to check my blindspot before changing lanes or turning. I see a lot more when I turn my head.
