MTB_Roadie Posted November 8, 2011 Share Yes and him and John still owe many suppliers money from their last fiasco....hopefully JOC will be next on the radar John don't own them anything, Willie Engelbrecht was the one who screwed people over...he owes a lot of people money...but the company was liquidated so that is over and done. JOC actually do very well for himself and a awesome person and shop....it clearly says something that Willie's shop failed twice....problem lies with him. ETXEONDO Posted November 8, 2011 Share BTW, not all creditors were paid out...only the big boys. This allowed W&J to go their seperate ways and open two different stores. Shame on them.
DMD 1 Posted November 8, 2011 Share We have always had really great service from WEBIKE. My wife has gotten cycling fit with a regular group of WEBIKE ladies that ride twice to three time a week in the Durbanville. Willie has always been more than willing to give FREE advice with set up changes etc. Even though his pricing was not as competitive my wife still bought all her cycling goodies there due to the great service. Is it not a thought that "the might of CWC" and their better pricing on the same stuff due to buying power has had an impact on the retail side of the WEBIKE. WEBIKE can could compete in the service area but not in the retail area. RIP WEBIKE

Bram_on_Madone Posted November 8, 2011 Share Popped into WEBIKE once en route with a small problem on my road bike - they were very friendly, but it was clearly that the staff don't really know anything about road bikes and seemed to only specialise on mountain bikes. Ended up having to fixed the mess they made when I got home myself. Mountain biking may the flavour of the month, but maybe the narrower focus contributed to the financial problems? Had that experience looking for shoes, the lady gave me wrong pricing, went to buy it, the price they gave was R1000 less than what it rang up for Willie threw his attitude...cause I was right and they wrong Last time I ever went in there. Lounge Lizard Posted November 8, 2011 Share I totally disagree with these comments ! At the old shop and the new, I never received anything but the best service and courtesy. Somehow they always charged me much less than I expect and gave extra bits and pieces free. The old shop had anything and everything you ever needed - always with the latest products and parts.Pity that John and Willy split-up; they were a good combination. The new shop does not have a great location (in my view) but has the expertise and skills any cyclist may require.(Unfortunately JOC is too far to travel to.) I hope this 'rumour' is just a rumour ? ... Willie is one of (if not the best) cyclist this country has seen, I hope you guys are just talking Cr&p about a close down. No, I don't know Willie personally .... and doubt he knows my name, but I have always been very pleased with his shop.
