When I had all four teeth removed I was riding again after 4 days. Depends how you feel though.

You can pretty much ride when you stop taking the drugs they give you. The painkillers, although very strong dont stay in your system too long... unless you have to take antibiotics, then you have to finish the course and you shouldn't train on those.

Good job on having them out, dont need them...

Just had maxio facial surgery and a tooth extracted, they gave me antibiotics and said I can train on these so I trained the next day - but then I am tough I am a Sharks supporter living in PTA.

Josh,

Take an easy few rides, then assess how you feel afterwards.

The wise thing to do :-)...

You can ride right away if you feel well and there are no complications.( If you have no serious swelling, high temperature, pain or bleeding) Be sensible though and don't do high intensity or very long rides for a few days. A general anaesthetic will often make you feel somewhat flat for a while afterwards.

I am a dentist, give me call 0845569090. Depends on whether you had General or Local Anesthetic to had them taken out. I would take off 2 weeks if I were you, nobody is going to call you a hero if you ride right after operation.....

Extracted or surgically removed? Sutered or not? General or Local anesthesia?

Speak to your dentist / Maxillo-Facial Surgeon. He'll know what is best for you!

My teeth where surgically removed, general anethestic, the one tooth was impacted and went into my nasel passage. A little swollen now but I feel a lot better.

I'll just do a short MTB ride on Friday

Thanks

Any reason why you shouldnt train while on antibiotics? I think this is a huge misconception/old wives tail. Over the years I never been told not train by a doctor when on antibiotics. It wont affect your riding in anyway. Heck I've just finshed 4 different courses on them over the last month (for a bacterial infection as nothing I took was working). I told the doc I was training for Joberg2c and he said it shouldnt be an issue to train hard.

2 years ago my brother got bronchitis during joberg2c. Doctor gave him the all clear to carry on racing for the rest of the event, and as it wasnt flu it wouldnt affect his heart in anyway. Although he did feel terrible, it wasnt dangerous for him to race. He felt 100's 2 days later and finished very strong.

Old wives tale or not, you only have one ticker and to put unnecessary strain on it is a no-no for me.
