Only one place to go

www.dealextreme.com

Plenty of options, I'd suggest the 900lumens light.

Have you ordered from these guys before?

I bought one (900 lum) from dealextreme for around R500 with customs and tax. They deliver for free, but it takes 5 weeks to arrive.

I never had problems with them. I also bought nintento DTS for my daughter for less than half price...

Try Led lenser with bike bracket.......... about R480 for both. Also a very handy flashlight.

I had a similar question which I posted in the buyers guide section at the following link, but had no feedback.

https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/113911-compact-road-bike-front-light-%e2%80%93-sub-r-700/

I considered the following options at the time ( pricing may have changed)

Magicshine 838 @ R 585

Magicshine 838B @ R 650

Gemini Sport Lumi 900 lumen @ R450

CREE XM-L T6 1600Lm Headlamp /Bicycle Light SET @ R 690

I have a rechargable LED Lenser, think the model number is H7R. I use it as a headlight when doing game drives, and it is often brighter than the lights the game viewing vehicle uses to spot animals. Cost was R550. If you can get a bike mount bracket for that, your wife would be training in lighting conditions almost similar to daylight.

What he said. Mine is still going strong. Very bright (I have been flashed by Gold Fortuners)

What should one look for in a decent light for riding? Not just for riding on the road, but for riding trails as well.

You want the best, buy Exposure. Best value, imho Magic Light, Shine or any of the other versions of it.
