Grebel Posted December 20, 2016 Share Got the older version of the Aeropress from Scuzzy today (thanks again Scuzzy) and the question I must ask is why did they change the design? Version 1 worked great! Better than the new version. But still love my aeropress. Quick easy and no fuss coffee! Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk Pro First thing I noticed when I used the new one was the blow by around the seal.... Got really p'd off by the air escaping while I was pressing. Even had some hot coffee sprayed at me. Couldn't figure out what was going wrong. It was brand new and shouldn't be "leaking"! Upon closer inspection I saw the difference. The older version had ribs along the length of the plunger that helped keep it pushing in a straight line whereas the new one doesn't have those ribs and that allows you to plunge at an angle which "weakens" the seal allowing blow-by. I replaced the new plunger with the old one and it seems to help.
SimpleDom Posted December 20, 2016 Share So I have to say. I own two aeropresses, and I really like the coffee. But, I got a clever Dripper a few months ago, and it's ALWAYS my first cup of coffee every morning. It's just such great balance of flavour for me. Going on holiday tomorrow, and very torn as to what to take with me. My hand grinder is packed. I'll probably take both. And a bodum. Maybe. Brian Fantana Posted January 4, 2017 Share I backed this Kickstarter project in February 2015. I took delivery of this unit at end November 2016. I have not had a chance to try it yet due to a hectic travelling schedule. I will try it out later today. It looks very well manufactured! http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170104/a079af79d840e83b8d4f1d044857ec54.jpg Oxter and Meezo

Frosty Posted January 9, 2017 Share After all the aelopless problems, I didn't want to risk getting a fake, so took the plunge (pun intended) and added this to my collection - for use at the office, as they only have Nespresso and dirty dish water available.http://uploads.tapatalk-cdn.com/20170109/55fbd72d1eeff473c00f20a2eb16fc61.jpg Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk the nerd and Long Wheel Base
