If they are both at the same price ... the Fuji is better specked.

Fuji has a better fork, crank, front derailleur and shifters ... SLX as opposed to Deore on the Merida

A Merida that would compare to the Fuji speck wise would be the TFS 900, one model up from the TFS500. (you didnt mention price but the TFS 900 goes for around R10.5k)

XT - Rear Derailure

SLX - Crank, Front Derail & Shifters

Manitou Minute Air Fork with Remote Lockout

Is this Merida a 26" or 29" Because i'm also in the market for a 29er. I am currently looking at the momsen AL329 for also R10500, and it comes out with Stan’s No Tubes ZTR Crest Rims, whick already is a goods choice.

But the specs on the Merida TFS 900 looks better. Damn, CHOICES.............

That is the 26er. The TFS900 is 26er and the Big Nine 900 the naainer.

Both have the exact same speck, but the Big Nine comes in at R12k.

I think the scott aspect 10 you can also get for the merida's price

That is correct the Scott Aspect 10 comes in at the same price as the Merida TFS 500 with the same specks bar the better air fork on the Scott. (but since the OP already decided on two bikes, I didn't want to through another into the mix ;) ) Not sure what year model that Fuji is?

Anyway, PM me if you want bikes delivered up country :D

Which one fits you better? Which one are you most comfortable with?

I do see the 500 specs are coming down from previous years

I must be honest, I got used to the "top-normal" action of the SLX and that alone would sway me towards the FUJI.
