I WOULD HAVE PAID MONEY TO SEE the look on his face,,,,,question is when you asked for a trade in how did you keep a serious POKER FACE :whistling: :whistling: :whistling: you should know that shop mostly caters for LOOOOONG money clients, still WRONG ATTITUDE FROM RICKY to him its scrap, however he would have got money from the service, and a possible SALE so DOUBLE FAIL

Lol think he said something .. like."thats not a bicycle"

Bike shops in my experience are generally useless. I have been into that Concept store and to say the staff were uninterested is the understatement of the century. Not even a "Can I help you?"

As a result, I have resorted to the following:

  • I shop online and for the best price. I buy on price only and will only pay a premium if its convenient and I will get the items quicker
  • I fix most of the stuff myself except for suspension and wheels. For the big stuff I use BMC as I find their work excellent and prices are incredibly reasonable.

Bike shops don't realise that their stock is commoditised and that we can get it anywhere. The only bike shops where the owners/staff seem to give a hoot is Jon O Conner and Cycle Lab in Fourways. Always felt welcome to just walk in and browse. As for the rest, all the bladdy same.

Let me know when you do this - I want to be inside the store.... with a video camera...

Ricky told me the shoes I wanted to buy were the wrong ones for me... wasn't even interested in letting me try them on.... at over 3k for the pair...

That place has the WORST service ever... and despite them being the closest bike shop to me during the day, I don't go there anymore.... ever.

Ye im in houghton.. they also pretty close.Would be so nice if it was a family based trail store,, AM/endro/xc shop..

Venue is cool,shop is clean,....

but if i owned a bike shop that the only 2 things i would want the same as the concept store  , the speciaaaaaal bikes can stay , we wont judge them) :w00t:

Right there is the reason you won't see a cent from me. Try a different approach.

Could not agree more why would you ever support a shop that keep on telling you its the distributors fault. If you cant keep stock on readily available basis you should not have a shop at all.

I think he grows on you.... but he has serviced my bikes for nearly 20 years... maybe he is just as odd as me... and as you know, birds of a feather and all that...

Hell - they even look after a road bike or 2 for me... occasionally...

Does this Ricky read these posts? Does the owner of the shop? Surely he could learn what good service does to client loyalty.... https://community.bikehub.co.za/topic/134973-amazing-service-from-cyclefunatic-specialized-cycling-shop-durbanville/

ps: I went to 3 Concept stores in JHB area last week looking for a new seat post adapter that could take the new Carbon seat I bought from CompleteCyclist (thanks for telling me I needed a new one BTW - dont get me started on that one) all 3 said they will call me back same day with delivery dates and costs, not one did. Ended up taking a chance by stopping at Eagle Canyon cycles, Jacques there made a call or two and sent me straight to Westrand Cycles who not only had one in stock, but were super friendly too.
