465 down, nice little 35km MTB ride this afternoon and 2019 Rapha festive 500 is done and dusted.

Dont stop on the dot at 35km though, unless you have a speed sensor that will calculate accurate distance. Last thing you want is for Strava to calculate distance as 499.9km

I'm entered again.

I have been resting up since August and ensuring that I am not skimping on taking in suffient nutrition.

Should be in optimum condition to kick off by tomorrow.

Some feedback after my third Festive 500 and advice to myself for next year.

Only getting in 4h02 of riding in November and 3h10 in the first two weeks of December does not mean 500km in a week is out of the question. But rather do more in the run-up.

It is good to get ahead of the run rate early on. A 100km or so on the 24th sets you up nicely.

At the end of each ride, just stay on your bike for an extra 10km. It feels like nothing but can add up to 80km over the period.

Taking a day off without riding makes the rest of the week more tricky. Next time I'll rather try and fit in a quick 25 or thirty km. They all add up.

Taking both Christmas and Boxing day off as I did this year is silly. I won't do that again.

Find someone to ride some of the rides with, but do a nice long one by yourself. They are different experiences.

Go everywhere by bike. I needed a steak so rode to the butcher shop and went the long way round. The 40km helped to bring the outstanding miles down.

If you have them, ride different bikes. It spreads the load on you equipment and your @rse.

Is Fanie Stofberg a Hubber? Looks like he owned 2019 with 25 000 km.. and 1000 km in the Rapha challenge

The dude lives like a block away from my house.

Insane kilos on the bike.  Yet he is not into racing.

Rapha now done, stopped on 502km. Time to re-hydrate.  :D

I left it a bit late, but managed to finish it on the 30th. I dedicated the 31st to recovery, and my favourite recovery drink (= a bit of red wine....)

Well done Crammer I mean Christie [emoji16]. Heres to our adventures in 2020! [emoji1635][emoji485][emoji482]

Decided to do this year in five rides of at least 100 km each. Running out of ideas now for routes close to CT! Additionally, decided that each day had to have one moment of artistic inspiration to break the monotony

Did two rides with @Christie - two epic rides those were! Strand to Kleinmond via Clarence Drive and the Wellington, Wolseley, Hermon circuit via Bains Kloof Pass. Great memories!
