I have. It seems a bit pointless to me to berm straight trail. I've noticed some berms forming on the stuff below southern cross. I like those. Assume it's the same trail gnome? I don't get involved in trail politics anymore. I don't ride illegal trails and I pay my trail fees. That's where my involvement ends.

I think there's only one berm on a straight. Confused me too. Must have a chat to the guy next time I see him. The berms below SC were done by a paid gnome, not the guy I've seen on the Cork trees.

I think I know who you are talking about. Seems like a friendly chap. Kona bike?

Can't remember - it was a 26er but nothing which stood out to me.  Ya, very friendly chatty guy.

an XL Bird Aeris AM9 with a lyrik RC2, a super deluxe rct and DT E1900s, which are the strongest wheels ive ever used (had them on a previous bike, highly recommend if you like round rims)

Nice! The Bird guys are awesome and just down the road from my place in the UK. They've sorted me out a fair few demos.

Post a review asap.

I want one of their Zero 29 so much. 63 head angle on a hardtail! :)

My enduro ride

Disclaimer: I started this build in August 2018, so nothing to do with latest craze around mixed wheel size bikes

Some less than standard bits:

  • RS Coil rear shock
  • 29" Lyrik with 160mm travel, 42mm offset
  • 29" front wheel, 30mm internal width, Maxxis DHRII, 2.4 WT, EXO casing
  • 27,5" rear wheel, 35mm internal width, Maxxis DHRII 2.6 WT EXO+ casing
  • Hope crankset

Reasons why I decided on it:

  • geometry allowed to fit 29er front wheel (low BB, steep seat angle)
  • geometry allowed fto fit 2.6"rear tyre (long wide chain stays)
  • cable port on right side of frame for left rear brake routing (many new bikes only have port on right side) (its the details that matter...)
  • 34.9 seatpost, makes for stronger dropper post
  • good water bottle position
  • Reasonably priced (more expensive than brand like YT etc, but better support)
  • Good local support
  • Looks lekker :-)
  • Quiet

Its a really awesome bike and one of the few ones I've ridden that just begs you to ride harder and harder in the rough & steep stuff

Pity there's not more on the trails, a really underrated bike

Oh awesome.

I've just built one up myself.
