my good old GT Meatball

Been out of action for a while due to the rear axel being stripped, and no one could supply the right axel ..... found a fitter and turner who whipped one out for me, and she is running so nicely again!

Does anybody use coaster brake wheels on their SS bikes?

I have a coaster brake on my Gas-pipe Gitane

Goodness knows what year, but i think its about as old as its owner (almost 40)

Fun beachfront riding, wanted to make it a fixie, but concerned for my swiss cheese knees.

Born from the parts of long-dead bikes.

Wheels off a Spez, brake, bars and stem off a Simple Sam, Scott Speedster frame, random non-branded carbon fork.

Should make a swift commuter - possibly with wider bars and a front brake.

Should read: Please, with a front brake :)

Cool looking bike, hope you have tons of fun!

I have the same frame, also converted to a single speedster.......

I need to know the following, if the info is available.

Crank make and model, as well as the BB. I was told by my LBS that because of the setup (single speed 3  14 gearing) that my BB will now always take strain and be replaced sooner.

It has been replaced but now even the new BB is giving me squeaky sounds.

Please advise, if possible on the make and model or even what else I can use that will last.

thanks

My two single speed roadies.

Spez langster, circa 2009. Set up as single speed with both brakes, on Tektro aero levers. Really fun bike to ride when you don't feel like taking road riding too seriously.

Then the fixie, a SE bikes Lager, heavy bugger but simple. Was on sale but I fell in love with fixie riding after losing the brake. Been riding it daily for the last week and a half and it's a ton of fun too. Did some custom stickers for the frame, homage to the Gorilla, Andre Greipel. And of course, dicks out for Harambe.

Speaking of, does anyone have some bullhorn bars lying around? Desperate to add some to the fixie.

It uses a normal BSA threaded BB, so whatever screws in. I'm about to put a normal cartridge square taper BB in there which seem to run forever, and use the cranks off the Simple Sam.

What cranks do you have on yours?
