Where to buy Flat Pedals

Bra B

Recommended Posts

Shoes most important part of riding flats.

I ride Truvativ Holzfellar pedals, and happy with them. Save on Pedals and use it to buy FiveTen shoes

Update on those holzfellar, took a moer of a tumble today and bent the one pedal, luckily crank still 100%. But think would happen to most pedals, when hooking into a nice rock at 34km/h.

With strava I can now see my top speed, before hitting 0km/h, haha

Hi all

Where can I buy flat pedals locally besides Dialdbikes? They don't have much in stock at the moment.

Looking for either Saint MX80, Nukeproof Neutron/Protron , DMR V8 but open to other suggestions....

Don't want to go CRC route just yet cause of custom duties etc.

Crank Brothers 50/50's are available on Buycycle

Apparently those are not the most bullet proof pedals

Perhaps the previous version with the ball bearings weren't great, but we have had NO returns or complaints about the current version.

There are Riders on WC circuit using them when the course calls for flats rather the clip-in pedals, so I guess they have been greatly improved

50/50 (2) uses a bushing inner, sealed bearing on the outer

50/50 (3) uses a needle bearing inner , sealed bearing on the outer

Is the 3 version the latest one?

Are the bushings replaceable that version and how much approx is that ?

Both (2) and (3) are the new version of the 50/50 - the previous versions were called X and XX

There are rebuild kits (service kits) for both the new version pedals. These are the same as the new Eggbeater and Candy pedals

The Rebuild kit 1/2 contains new bushings and sealed bearings

The Rebuild kit 3/11 contains new roller bearings and sealed bearings

Both Rebuild kits retail for just under R200 and contain service parts for both pedals.

Bought two pairs of Nukeproof Neutrons for R680 per pair, DHL Express postage and VAT incl. It's R140 more than the Electrons at DialDBikes which is out of stock anyway with no clear indication of when they will have again. I think it is a bargain as the Neutrons are clearly better constructed than the Electrons.

Just a pity that, even though it takes two days from CRC despatch to arrival in JHB, it is now been laying in JHB for four days undergoing "clearance events"... Wonder if striking season has anything to do with it. Somewhat frustrating as I have a new bike staring at me which I can't ride!

Bought a pair of Nukeproof Protons from CRC on Friday 16 August and used the cheapest delivery option (untracked mail). They were here on Monday this week. Not bad, 5 working days..
