Cathl Posted September 26, 2013 Share I am quite new to cycling and bought clipless pedals the other day for th efirst time. While loosening the tension on the one pedal the bolt broke cleanly in half. I had no problem with the other pedal. I wasn't forcing it.Did I have a dud pedal or is it possible to break them so easily by over-loosening? Are you only meant turn it once or twice? Inusc Posted September 26, 2013 Share Did you buy the pedals new? Maybe take it back to the shop you bought it from. You sure it broke? It might have just slipped out of over looseningMaybe put up some pics
Cathl Posted September 27, 2013 Share The bolt is in two pieces. I did buy them new, so will take them back to the shop and see what they say. I am just rying to figure out if I should be asking for a replacement or if I am at fault.
Headshot Posted September 27, 2013 Share Sounds like a defect in the pedal itself. If you havent got Shimano SPDs and they offer you a new set get the genuine Shimano pedals rather. The 520 version are cheap and I have yet to break a set in about 18 years of mtb.
